Welcome to the Tigers Nathan Broad

It doesn't ring true. Why would the AFL seek to control how a player is used? Shouldn't be anything stopping a "managed" player from being named as an emergency if he's the best insurance for his replacement.

Geelong did this frequently through 2011 on their way to the flag, and the player was listed as "rested". The new terminology "managed" is less suggestive to the public that the club is playing funnybuggers.
There is nothing stopping them, would just look ridiculous to say a bloke is being managed & then play him as an emergency

The blokes in last nights game finished up looking like burst saveloys at a country show.

outstanding work there horsey head

Pretty clearly it's a social distancing thing. All d'ladies in Darwin wanting their shot at a medal. Broad's arrival in the airport would be a community health issue. The RFC are doing the right thing for the national effort.

this theory just doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Broady was wearing masks years before they were trendy

Depends. Richmond rarely makes late changes and tends to treat "emergencies" as just that. A player could be rested/managed with no intention of playing him, but still be named as an emergency and play if absolutely required, perhaps on reduced minutes.

Here is the GWS team for the previous round showing Mumford as both managed and emergency.

Suspect there is no subterfuge here and Broad has indeed been dropped.

Occam's Razor guys. Having a rest. Their forward half does look a tad more competent than usual on paper though.

Straight back in. Strange decision to drop him in the first place. Markov showing that he is a VFL player.

Will be required next week against the Coasters!! Height, strength , lockdown ability and versatility.

Darling, Kennedy, Allen, Ryan and even Brander in this week.

Must be recalled.

Extra benefit is he will have had a freshen up not playing tonight.

Poster on Twitter made a good point that if you say managed as opposed to omitted they can't come into the team at the last minute if required.
Notably Broady is an emergency.
Why is that? Can't you just intend to manage someone but still name them emergency?

I was just thinking he might have got on the gas.

FWIW he had no matchup on the night.
