Moral of the story is that when you trade away your picks you don’t have any left.

Posh if Soldo isn’t agreeable and our dinner party guy has got the wrong information, is it going to be F1 and pick 19 for Hopper, or will GWS not go ahead?
Pick 19 has already gone and going by your comments previously then this was a salary dump so they have to proceed don’t they ?

Unfortunately that is right.
Not going back into it but the loss of a future 1st is dangerous for a several reasons, one of which is the inability to react to a failure of either our youngish remaining rucks or/ and KPF’s to progress as we had hoped.
Like the rest of you hoping for the best.
A future 1st isn’t likely to help us in the next 3-5 years if that future 1st is a key forward/ruckman like we need though.

If too topping up our biggest need at the moment (which IMO is midfield) can help us stay in the hunt and make us a desirable destination for any young key forward coming out of contract then that helps with the risk.

As far as trading out of this years draft, it can obviously go both ways but it’s well reported this draft isn’t as highly rated as some, and with our 5 in 30 last year maybe we felt the risk was worth it.

You don’t have to be down to your last $1 before you exchange your better assets for a buck or chose not.
It will be touch and go!

Agree with this but our future 1st, which was always my concern, isn’t about this years draft.

And there's the cost of finding a new second ruck, this also has to be factored into the equation. If there's any more collateral involved I'd say we're paying an extraordinary amount for an inside midfielder coming back from injury.
Do you not think Ryan can produce Soldo 2022 numbers in 2023?

7 touches and 14 hitouts. That's the Soldo back up numbers.

Maybe the trading of 12 was very canny? It’s replaced pick 6 as the dud pick.

Do we factor in some improvement given he's returning from injury? If you believe he's damaged goods then fair enough but that would have to apply to Hopper as well, he's dropped from 26 disposals to 19, 400 metres gained to 194, 13 kicks to 8 kicks.

We certainly haven't helped with pumping up the value of pick 12. What a mess of it we have made.
Value of Taranto trade to GWS ~pick 4.
A younger Rankine traded to Crows for essentially pick 5.
Taranto’s aerobic capacity particularly suits our game style, along with his other traits.
Which player would PRE punters rather have, all other things being equal?

I was commenting on our historical drafting of pick 12s.

Soldo's '19 is his outlier #'s wise. He played 14 games that yr, Nank played 12 so he was played as #1 ruck for essentially half the season. '20 was shortened games & he missed all of '21 & this yr was always going to be a write off coming back from a knee, he will be better next yr than he was this yr. Of course the same applies next yr with Hopper who gets a full pre season as does Taranto.

And a full preseason with Richmond to boot.

I was referring to having it available to trade.

Was probably carrying a niggle and a lack of interest !!

I am expecting an improvement in on field performance from Ivvy in 2023 after another pre season into that knee.

How bad is his kicking is to much made off it because his disposal efficiency is same average as some of the best midfielders in the competition ?.
