Have to love this weekend of footy.

Tigers winning, Cats being defeated by the last year's wooden spooners,, Hawthorn defeating the Dons by a point.

And best of all, the Magpies going down to the Doggies.

The only slip here was Melb. winning against a woeful Dockers team of youngsters.

Not fussed about the remaining 3 games today, not really all that interested in who wins or loses.

Lastly, good to see Dangerfield likely to face the MRO, after he escaped in the GF for poleaxing Vlastuin.

Guess he will get off though with a fine or a slap on the wrist.

that Swans academy just keeps rolling out future stars.

Its a *smile* big catchment and the Riverina is as strong as any football district in the land.

I love the academy system. It produces footballers

Richmond won ✔
Carlton lost ✔
Collingwood lost ✔
Essendon lost after leading by 40 points ✔
Geelong lost to the wooden spooners ✔
Brisbane got flogged by a bunch of teenagers ✔

This is easily the most enjoyable footy weekend since we last won the flag.

Now, if Norf could somehow roll Pord...

The best round 1 set of results I can ever remember

Whoever came up with the one about the entitled bumbers having one hand on the trophy after a half of footy in Rd 1 only to give up a 40 point lead deserves a Miles Franklin

Yep, and the AFLW side won at Punt Rd to cap it off.

Will be interesting to see the game in Perth today, blazingly hot over there.

Riverina is Giants zone ezy. The Swans are doing it with kids from Sydney and anywhere north of there. Basically they’re turning kids from the rugby codes heartland into gun AFL footballers. A significant achievement.

Where are these *smile* academy's.
Didn't we introduce a draft so the competition would be even.
If Sydney didn't have this academy, they would be planted in the bottom 4 for the next 20 years.
Haven't we got an academy?
It covers all kids in the Zone.
Which covers punt rd, swan st, bridge rd all the way to Burney st.

Identical incident to Astbury, so expect a fine.

Although if you listen to Dermie it was totally different. No gap between Joes arm and Rampe, whereas Astbury swung it round, head was nowhere near his shoulder. Its strange how reality seems to be warped so much the more people talk about things, the 2 were identical but some people just seem to want to make more of some things than others.

Great round of footy. Next round sees Port (1st) vs Essendon (10th) but besides that game, the teams 2nd to 9th play each other, and the teams 11th to 18th play each other.

Apart from Geelong with their productive local zone, we're really the only club without a metropolitan component (although not sure Melbourne CBD is much use to North). Our zone is geographically large but historically not very lucrative.

The greatest rort of the academies is that Scumwood somehow managed to get access to kids from the strongest U/18 program in Oakleigh Chargers. Isaac Quaynor was born in Melbourne and from all reports enjoyed a typical upbringing in the middle class suburbs playing footy for Beverley Hills; the club that produced Paul Roos, Gary Pert, Marc Murphy amongst others. Yet because his dad was born in Ghana he somehow qualifies for the academy and Scumwood get access. Very similar scenario with Reef McInnes last year; born in Australia but his mum is from the Phillipines.

What a *smile* rort. Load of bull *smile*.
