Which current 1-4 year player do you expect to go Bang! in 2022

Stack for me. Very excited.

Hopeful on RCD too but more a fingers crossed thing.

Stacky will power on and become what we hope for , but I think Nigel will surprise many and become a favourite of many. Big improvement there.

It will be interesting to see how Nigel goes next year. I think he showed enough toughness defensively this season, but the 1 thing we didn't see too much was his run and carry which was very evident in his draft video that we saw when we picked him up. Interesting to see if he can take this area of his game to the next level, as with Short, Rioli and Nigel in the backline, it enables us to release Stacky and Bakes further up the ground.

Hugo is x-factor galore. Moves well, could own a wing.

RCD will stand up for us in the middle.

I also like the Mansell calls. Like the cut of his jib.

I was going to say Callum Coleman-Jones but then I realised he is a 5th year player.

I'm not a real buyer on much of our young talent yet but I think the one who is a certainty to be elite is MRJ. Not sure if it will be this year, next or even next, but it will happen.
Yes not really expecting it in 2022 but I am expecting it. By all reports he came from a fair way behind and his improvement has been enormous.
Having a full VFL program will be important for him

Have been saying for a while now that I believe MRjnr will be (alongside his old man) the best Rioli of all the namesake to play the game.

Ross not getting the love he deserves in this thread. Behind only Stack in terms of best performed of the current 1-4 years but without the off field baggage. Only turned 21 in September and I reckon if you took out the games he was sub, you’d find he was tracking very similar in terms of numbers to Graham at the same age. Not bad for a third round pick.

Hope your right TBR at this point I’ll take 50 games

Stack will show his full potential and knock off Dusty for the Norm Smith.

Everyone is concentrating on the draft and rightly so but if Richmond have any chance of regenerating whilst still contending a couple of our 1-4 year players must come through.

Anyone willing to back anyone in?

I'll go:

1) RCD - I still have faith that he will form part of our next gen midfield as a stoppage player at his core but a goal kicking midfielder as well. If he can get his mind about resting forward I see no reason why he couldn't be damaging there also. I am not overlooking his weaknesses in defensive running and sometimes dawdling from stoppage to stoppage but I just have this feeling next year we will see the positives outshine the negatives.

2) Hugo - Big call but in a couple of VFL games thought he did quite well off half back and run and carry was good, looked a little shaky at AFL but still some promising signs too. Not sure half back is his spot as he was played wing and forward as well in VFL. Similar to Balta who was thrown around everywhere I am hoping they settle Hugo into role that he can sink his teeth into. I am expecting he would have put on a bit more weight and his athleticism is already there.

Without a doubt Stackman would be no 1 on talent but as he was only given a 1 year deal with incentive clauses to perform/make the right choices he appears to still be somewhat on trial with the club so i can't quite put Syd in the 'I EXPECT' category rather the 'I AM HOPEFUL' basket. My first eyeballs on him the other week looked promising.

I expected more from Dow last year but know he started behind with appendix op and then another disrupted Covid VFL season. (Still like him).
Ross had a monster pre-season last year which didn't lead to any progress, match committee trying him off half back didn't help I reckon he is inside mid or bust. (Jury Out)
Will Martyn also an inside mid only IMO and got caught out in his 1st outing and appeared slow but has had some good VFL form. (Jury Out).
Miller (Still Jury Out for mine but I see more confidence in himself and some progression so still an interesting prospect)

Junior, Samson (No expectations just looking forward to watching them develop).
Mate` - Yet to play a game in anger and has hardly trained so not possible to form an opinion other than he is very tall :)

Crying out for someone to step up to replace Aarts, (If Cumberland is re-drafted it will be an intriguing watch)

After watching the 1st pre-season training today I am doubling down on my earlier prediction on Riley to go bang!!!

Agree. He looked good. And they paired him with Broady to push him at one stage and whilst he didn't quite keep up he worked his proverbial off.

Other then Stacky been there :)), I think that’s the most positive thing about day 1 pre season , as I’ve said before I highly doubt his pushed himself to limits he should have to be an AFL midfielder, if he had he would have debuted a lot earlier and not had so many other Cubs push in front of the que. Imho he will never be a star , however if he can work extremely hard and get a standard AFL midfielders fitness base, he can then be a very important cog in our midfield, as we know we are screaming out for a big bodied clearance machine , let’s hope the penny has dropped for RCD

Stacky or Mansell for mine, would love Martyn but just not sure at AFL level. How good would it be to be calling the name Martyn / Martin 50 times a game?

Just love Mansell's game and think the young man has the competitive instinct we need. Stacky could be anything with a good tank.
