Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

I counted two targets hit by foot by Bachar the rest were just long bombs to a pack. No tackles in fact when he is chasing a player he seems to fade in the last 5 metres a thus never effecting the tackle.
The positive twice he stood under hospital passes and took the mark with one and earnt a free with the other.

Jury is still out.

If there is a player free Houli has the ability to hit them on the chest,if not he goes long and direct.

I like that.

The more our players learn to run and spread the more valuable Houli and his kicking skills will become.

A few times in last Fridays game I thought I was seeing tambling, he just reminds me of tambling for some reason, hopefully that doesnt last

Just wish you would concentrate on seeing more remarkable footballers in RFC jumpers, like Judds, Swans and Abletts. Raise your standards Aekara :hihi

M R the two kicks that hit targets were not lace out but kicks floated up to the players (no different to kicks by raines which were the subject of much critism on this site)
I am yet to see any lace out kicking that some here claim he is capable of.

He has played 1 game for us,lets give him a chance

my concerns is his ability to defend. sure he finds the ball hanging out the back. But the guy is never in there getting the hard ball. I hope he finds the passion for the yella and black to play the hard ball like matty white or the postman! come on houli show us what ya got! we need that roar!

I think we need to accept that outside mids are a key part of any team. As long as you have decent inside mids, outsiders are more damaging sitting out the back. Peter Matera never won his own ball but sheesh he could set up Sumich after he got the ball from Mainwaring etc.

Matera was pretty hard at it, liked tackling, and had exceptional pace and disposal also. Don't expect all your outside ball winners to be in his class.

Problem is that one game is indicative of his career since he was picked up at pick 42 by Essendon in the 2006 draft. He's hardly an unknown quantity. So realistically it's probably not about whether he can improve but rather is he what Richmond really needs. Well he is on the list for the moment, I'll guess we'll find out by the end of the season.

Good post.

I'll stand pat on Houli. He will make it at Punt Road.

Skill set is very good. Has a role to play. Can kick, can find space. That is what I want. Add to the run and spread. And when its his turn to go, he has to go.

Houli had 83.3% disposal efficiency (2nd highest on Tiger list). Only had 1 contested possession but at least it is showing he did not waste the ball and that's exactly what you need from an outside player. Conca in fact took the honours with 86.7% efficiency, congratulations young man, as that included 8 contested possessions and alot of constant pressure in that backline. At the other end of the scale, Luke McGuane managed 44.4% disposal efficiency - he only had 9 possessions. Think I will say no more on that.

Yep I agree.

His spot i reckon is as a half forward playing ahead of the contest. He has the skills to hurt sides and he looks like he has the engine to work up and down the ground consistently.

From what i can see under Dimma he will either go when it is his turn or he won't play. I am pretty sure it's one thing that isn't negotiable.

We dont disagree on much scooper, but leysy's not with you on the Houli Douli.

Not a horrible player, but has enough deficiencies to make him well up against it for leysy.

he kicks a hard and accurate ball from the flanks and wing, if we can get just a slightly better delivery to Jack and Griff i reckon he's worth his spot in the team

Look I don't think the Houli Douli is the answer to all our outside problems but he brings so much that we don't have. And for what ever reason he didn't get a extended run at it while at Windy Hill. I think he is very creative by foot and finds space very well. We have too many blokes who cannot even get close to finding space and then when they get that odd moment in space, they crab sideways. At the very least Houli finds space, runs hard to the space and is aggresive with the ball movement.

yeah, I like him so far. Prefer him to a number of our regulars - Edwards, for example.
