There was a moment in the first qtr where he tried to pick up a ground ball and with a defender not exactly on his hammer and he just fumbled and fumbled, and just didn’t look comfortable or the type you want down back in the heat if battle.

He has a nice looking kick, and sure he gets some distance, but so many of his kicks look great off the boot but aren’t specifically directed to anyone. Is he in the team just for metres gained through kicks?

Jibbin Shart. Will be the luckiest Tiger since Darryl Freame if carried to a premiership.

The Jayden Short baggers have been hard at it yet again. I sure hope that Jayden doesn't ever read this forum. Stuff all of you Jayden baggers, I am going to make a few points in favour/support of Jayden.
- in the game last night, he had 24 disposals at 83% disposal efficiency (from only 73% game time). His disposal efficiency was better than 16 other RFC players, including Dustin Martin (at 56% and who got voted as BOG).
- he had 7 intercepts which was more intercepts than Houli, Astbury, Grimes and Baker. He may have saved 2 or 3 or more opposition goals from those intercepts.
- he had 5 contested possessions, which is a decent number for a defender. Only 5 other RFC players had more contested possessions.
- he has very good pace and run.
- he is one of the best long kicks in the AFL and very adept at short & medium kicks as well.
- he is a genuine two sided player, one of the best non preferred kicks in the AFL. He can kick the ball 50 metres plus on his left foot. Very few right players in the AFL can do that. To me, to be genuinely two sided is a very good asset.
- he provides good run and attack and metres gained out of our defence. Our defensive unit is performing well and is well balanced, with Astbury, Grimes and Broad providing primarily defensive coverage and Short, Houli, Vlastuin and Baker providing primarily very important offensive run.

Just like many players, Jayden has parts of his game that need improving (such as tackling) but IMO he is certainly in our best 22 and I hope the selectors keep in in the team.

So you're saying he was better than dusty? The BOG voters got it wrong? Ultimately he's playing footy at the top level so good luck to him but he continually gets exposed in the contest which I think will see him dropped before years end.

I was expecting that it wouldn't take long for a Jayden Short bagger to try to mock/criticize my posting. I am not suggesting at all that Jayden was BOG and to take it otherwise from the context of my posting is just being deliberately provocative (or just being a mindless smart alec) to supposedly try to win an argument. My points raised in my post are to support Jayden as being worthy of being in the best 22 for the RFC as opposed to the constant negativity by some posters.

Weak link
Finals will highlight him.
0 tackles as a defender.
What's hardwick watching?
Flappers would be better

24 disposals, no tackles, no 1%ers. has to do more than just run and kick, kicking has become a little indiscriminate as well lately.

I suspect he will be targeted by the opposition during September and be a liability.
Has some skills and a couple of tricks but when the heat and pressure are applied he seems tobe a weak link, in my opinion.
I'd rather see Stackman take his spot and move Baker up forward where he belongs.
Can't have both Baker and Short in defence during the finals.

This sort of post tips you from reasonable critic, to troll. Careful.
Does it? One colourfully worded post tips me into being a troll?

Trolling – (verb), as it relates to internet, is the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument

I have no interest in provoking anyone into a fight or argument. I am simply expressing how I feel about Jayden Short. "Jibbin Shart" is shorthand for "Jayden Short is a soft, panicky footballer who avoids physical contact and rushes his disposal when he thinks physical contact is coming, often putting teammates under pressure and/or turning the ball over". It's me being trying to be colourful. I understand if you don't like it. You don't have to.

Tell me you don't like the phrase, but don't call me a troll. It's clear I'm not and I think it's a cheap shot.

To conciliate, I will refrain from using the term again.

All points 100% correct,
He might be going for The Guinness Book of records. The only defender in the history of the game not to lay a single tackle.
Plus he has the ball handling skills of under 12’s footballer.
He will cost us a game. Wait & see.

Forget about stats just for one minute. As a defender your first priority is to defend. Short does not do this. Clearly highlighted by his inability to lay one tackle. Go to the other side of the ground and it’s a prerequisite for our small forwards. Why is Short exempt from this KPI?

Dimma does seem to have a soft spot for Short.
The MC sees more in his game than what I observe (which probably says a great deal about my lack of footy acumen).

Running backs. Don't have to win one on one. Don't have to have high DE. (They get that by kicking it backwards to Dave Astbury - unmarked - can you believe?)

They have to get there for loose or HB receive and they have to use the ball aggressively. There are times to slow it down but running backs have to rip it open when the side is on the gallop.

I once wrote of Corey Ellis that to touch him is to fell him. It's not hard to force Shorty to turn it over.

Shorty is not strong. His balance is easily taken. Watch what happens when the heat comes. He's adjusting to that in 2019. And yesterday he used it backwards far too often. Conservative use. Got a good DE.

He's under pressure. Looking after his numbers?

In 2018 Shorty was allowed to sag off for wide switches. Allowed by opposing coaches. He has to play football this year. He now gets a bit of respect and IMO he's improved a bit. Because of that.

If he holds his place he has to use the ball forward. And more quickly.

The really beautiful thing is that not one of you Short haters is on the selection committee for the RFC, so your vitriol and endless venting doesn't have any control over team selection. The same thing applies to all of you Ellis haters, Soldo haters, Townsend haters, Castagna haters, Butler haters, Chol haters, Prestia haters, Houli haters, McIntosh haters etc, etc. I seriously question why a few of the haters of these players and other RFC players on this forum feel it so necessary to be so very negative. The RFC selection committee obviously have many things to consider each week, including team balance and it would be a very difficult task most weeks to come up with the best team from the available players.

Now for the adverse reaction (probably from at least one of the bully boy 10,000 plus posters on this forum). Here we go.

The McIntosh haters had a victory when he was dropped I would have thought
