Maybe we couldn't match the offer because of the soft cap.

From where we all sit the impression I get is that Caracella has made a substantial positive contribution to our club.

He's been offered a position elsewhere, money is likely a factor, but surely any assistant wants the main job and that looks a whole lot more likely at Essendon. Can't say I blame him if he's angling for a head coach job.

Thanks for the contribution, hope you do well, but the club you go to doesn't.

The other angle is that he has no aspirations of being a senior coach so he's decided to go for the $$ only. Maximising his earnings when he's most valuable.

If it's as big an offer as is being spoken, Blake could very well be making more coin than some of the new first year senior coaches next year.

Maybe we asked Essendon to buy out his contract, I hope this is the case as it will make their coaching budget very tight.

I’d say we have one locked in Baloo, Benny and Balmey don’t miss a beat, makes me think we have a coach that’s team is in the finals , I know plenty don’t want Voss, however the Leppa convection just makes me think his a possibility

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Voss is going to be coach at Carlton.
The Blues just have to wait until the remainder of Port's season falls over before it can make the announcement.

A Carlton mate of mine said that the resident "inside knowledge" poster on the blues forum suggested that Voss has had 2 interviews with Carlton and they were both very UN-Impressive.
I would be very suprised if they went with Voss.

some great players retiring
Hodge
Jordan Lewis
Burgoyne
Grigg

would be happy to get any of these on board, but all lack coaching experience.
Ex coaches such as Voss or Bolton wouldnt fill Caracellas role imo.

The one I would love is Sam Mitchell.
He is sitting tight waiting to take over the Hawks. We just need him for 2 years

It amazes me how strong an opinion people have about someone they have seen almost nothing of.

Understand it with players because everyone can see them play and make their own judgements but with coaches and assistant coaches 95% of what they do is out of sight of almost everyone.
Fair enough and totally agree.
My opinion is mostly based on pressers and tv footage of the coaches box. Not a fair way to judge performance.

For what its worth do you have a preference to replace Blake?

Id rather Hodge. However smart Mitchell might be I have the impression (perhaps unfair, I've never met the bloke) Mitchell is all about Mitchell and could be a de-stabilising figure.

Hodge still bleeds yellow and black so I'd love him at the Tiges just for that.

Mitchell might be a good choice. He's started down the coaching path already. Hawks and WCE exposure. Dimma would know Mitchell quite well so you'd think if we thought he'd be good for a couple of years we'd make the move.

No way Mitchell will leave Hawthorn. Next coach in waiting.

On Blake, I wonder if he is the ultimate change agent who gets bored by a status quo environment. Pies, Cats, Tigers now Bombers. Impressive CV with results. He deserves to get paid the big bucks to come in and drive change. Then onto the next gig. Doesn't seem to have the profile or persona to be a head coach and knows his limitations.

While I am sure his tactical nous will be a loss, I am sure Dimma and the other assistant coaches would have learnt a lot from Blake's time at Richmond. I am sure his intellect and insight has been spread across the coaching team - and part of the reason for Blake wanting to move on.

We can be thankful that we are now run by a mature club, both on and off the field.

Whilst I wish Blake well, and forever thankful for his role in bringing me so much joy in 2017, I sincerely hope he fails at Essendrugs :D

I personally found Blake very offensive

Depends on when Clarko intends to move on. Mitchell to us for a couple of years more experience then back to the Hawks. I always felt Newman to Hawks was a similar thing.

Dimma and Clarko are very tight.
