Is there an AFL mandatory minimum number of players clubs have to bring in via the draft each year?

Personally I don’t think we’ve got any need to change our list.

But I guess we need to cut 6 -7 off the main list so we can draft three and upgrade 3 or 4.

Grigg butler Moore miller Menadue Markov
All traded or delisted.

Upgrade stack Baker & Chol.
Possibly Pickett too.

Weller is another who may go. Ellis won’t be offered the same money so he may go as well.
I expect us to keep Miller.

My list is

Go from
38 - 6 - 1
To
40 - 4 - 1

Gives us two more senior spots but 2 less rookies.

Trade butler (7 games) & Markov (2 )
Retired: Grigg (0 )
Delist: Moore & Miller (0 both)

Upgrade: stack Pickett Chol Baker
Rookie cut: Aarts (0 games)

National Draft: 3 juniors
Draft 2 rookies

Maybe re- rookie draft miller.

I think I’m close on this one.

Think Mav Weller would be another we cut, drafted for protection but even with all our injuries he has not been required or tried and failed.

Just FYI, we don't "need" to upgrade any more rookies. Baker and Stack have been upgraded, leaving Weller (1 year so far), Townsend (1 year so far), Pickett (1 year so far) and Chol (who was delisted and then re-rookied last year). All rookies can be up to 3 years on the rookie list so none of them actually require being upgraded if we don't free up the list spots.

FWIW, I think we may free up a main list spot for Chol by delisting Miller but committing to pick him back up in the rookie draft.

I don't think we will trade Markov unless he wants out. As a medium forward he's really showing his ability which IMO could transition to AFL, he has good pace, good marking ability and has a great kick and leap. I think forward suits him better than HB where he has played the last 2 years.

I think both Butler and Ellis will be elsewhere next year. Possibly Moore too.

Our list is strong and our players are in demand.

Not only are we a destination club we are also a shopping precinct.

of the 8 guys who left us last year, we only delisted one.
I expect that will be similar to this year.

We need to trade.
We need to add another tall defender
If Crouch wants out, I would go after him. I would get rid of caddy and Ellis to free the

Maybe instead of doing player appearances at shopping centres, we could set up a stall?
