Lots of players playing for their September spots atm. I think we will go very hard against a reinvigorated Carlton. I'm expecting a full blown effort and a win.

Agree - they will have learnt from last year and we are doing things differently. I also think they want 24 to 25 finals ready players for September

i groaned a little when Dusty was 'rested', but it was fleeting. we are winning pretty convincingly in 3rd gear and that will continue ..

Thats what i said.

Given podiums are mostly 3 big

And carlton are equal 3rd last

I dont reckon its a terribly wild assertion

Right well they're not playing like 3rd last. As other poster said they're 5 and 3 and unlucky not to be 7 and 1 in last 2 months. Were relatively impressive against WC. Needed a bit more polish. Tigers won't be taking this game lightly, certainly won't be considering their current ladder position, nor should we. It is going to be a decent test for us.

fair enough.

But I've decided to take this one lightly.

Last year was very different at this stage. We virtually had top 2 sewn up making it difficult to remain focused. This year we're fighting hard for a top 4 so a lot more at stake. We have a little it more to play for than Carlton so would be surprised to see us lose but as we've seen this year, many upset results, so will have to be on our game.

I suspect the late dusty out may have been planned , and may get into their players heads overnight and lul them into a false sense of security,

Hopefully the wet weather stays , nobody beats us in the wet

Carlton will be keen. They'll want to finish their season off well. And the players probably are primed for Teague as well.
But whatever the Blues can and do throw at the Tigers I am confident we can beat them well.
Let's hope it is a bit like a mini final because the last couple of matches before September will indeed be mini finals.
Nothing can be left to chance now and I am sure the brainstrust have last year in mind as they prepare to bring the team to peak form and condition at the right time of the season.
Last year the Tigers almost fell into September having endured being hunted all season (and what a mighty mighty effort it was to finish two games clear at the top of the ladder), but it took its toll eventually.
This year something else, something different is brewing and I reckon the Tigers are going to be damn hungry for redemption.

Geez I hope so.

If we are looking to rest players, this is clearly the easiest game for the rest of the year despite Carlton improving. So, now is the time.

I think we will win but this is no gimme and I don't reckon the club is treating it that way.

While i'll be quite happy if we played it safe with Stack by giving him another week off, i would also like to see him b!tch slap Sam Walsh tomorrow.

Oh East Melbourne!
Very strange that they pull dusty out today. A lot of time would’ve been spent on planning for him by carlton ...why not make it a late change? Soreness?? Yet he trained? Strange.

Yeah I thought the same.

It will be a good test for us to play without dusty and cotch, a little risky but it has worked so far this season.
