Hungriest player since KB
KB wouldn't have played 100 games if it were up to some. We need more clinical finishers and with that comes an element of selfishness. Bolton kicks those and people would be celebrating his game. Lost count of the number of easy goals we've stuffed up due to players fluffing around trying to be "unselfish".

Have we dropped him yet?.....

Can I be a little unpopular. I have felt that the last two weeks, Bolton has been busy but not at the right standard. Not sure he keeps his position in our best side and with no injuries.

Should have been dragged after giving away the 100m penalty and goal.
Wasn't a free kick and he got frustrated by the flog's call especially the exaggerated 50m in these conditions.

Naive, but will learn as he gets older. No need for dropping or dragging.

Loose cannon. Huge gap between best and worst. The jury is still out. Dimma livid. Must fully adopt the Richmond team-first mantra. Self-centred acts in consecutive games. I hope he gets another chance to redeem himself next week.

Thought some of his efforts were weak and was very fumbly today. Not a good time to have a bad one when dusty and cotch to come back in.

Absolutely, free kick was very very soft, 50 was also very very soft, then the Carlton player pushes him so he pushes back and cops another 50? Really? I saw far worse not given 50 let alone 100.

Usual gross inconsistency from the umpires, I expect no more but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

The free wasn't there but both 50's were every day of the week.

Shai has to understand that the game isn't about him it is about the team.

They got the 100 metre free goal
We got the goal after the siren.

Inconsistency is normal for young players, I’m just pleased he’s taking the team option and his teammates are reinforcing his change in behaviour.

That alone is a great sign following approximately 10 highly selfish games this years where he’s failed to make a change in behaviour.

Good game for the big picture.

It's an interesting one, watched him closely at the PRO goal end... hee did a clean pick up at ground level 25 out and shaped up for a relatively easy snap... then you could almost physically see the gears click over in his head with a "what am i supposed to do" thought. He then handpassed to Graham who really had an equally difficult position but put out through.... was interesting to watch, the message is clearly in his head... but seems to conflict with his natural I'm
good enough myself instinct.

Some blokes just aren't suited to team first footy. Dimma and Bellis have both said that they have decided to focus on Bellis' strengths. Maybe they need to do the same with Shai? Problem is team first is the embodiment of the team so harder to make that work when we are talking about a guy who is a bit more selfish and that being his strength.

I noticed that at the time also.
Instinct and discipline are often two different elements that are difficult to mesh.
One can stamp out the other at times.
The one really outstanding quality about the very good instinctive players is that they also pssess great vision which enables them to assess the options better and makes them finer team players.
Maurice Rioli was this personified.

Oh East Melbourne!
I'd keep Bolton in the side. Has shown he can go through the midfield. Rioli however?

Rioli has done nothing this year. Was poor again yesterday. Has lost his X factor. Bolton although down on possessions - still had 5 clearances, 5 tackles and 20 pressure acts

I suspect both will be in the side for finals but if it came down to it, I’d be playing Bolton ahead of Rioli absolutely.
