Game Day Rd 23 Tigers v Lions - Reasonably large final H & A game day thread

Love how at the Brisi presser the press asking if Fagan was upset at Grimes tactics on Cameran and also trying to say that Camran was sick during the week. To Fagan's credit he did not buy into it...

I heard someone claim that yesterday’s crowd was the biggest ever between a VIC team and an interstate team for a home and away game. is this true? I certainly don't recall ever getting 77k for a game against an interstate team.

Yes the most by far, In contrast the Bulldogs/Adelaide game that was technically alive for both of them to make the 8 attracted a crowd of less than 10K at some ground down a seedy alleyway in Ballarat.

It was a strange game at times. With the umpiring mistakes..Missed shots on goal, and the non tag of Neale, I think we left a lot out there. Cotchin Played better in the last Qtr and will be better for the run. Lynch surely won't have that much go against him again and bloody Castagna will learn to kick.

We will be playing on Saturday night in the dew in Brisbane, which apparently can be like playing in the wet. I am more confident knowing that Brisbane can't improve much more, and we can.

Gee, I thought Graham was pretty good.

Well down on his usual impact. Turned over the ball 3 times in a row in the last quarter (when he amaased more than half of his total disposals). And his pressure acts were down, still good relatively at 50 but down on his usual input and his peers like Prestia 76, and Edwards 71. And only 3 tackles. Hard to know why, maybe it was the role he was asked to play. A lock to play finals though. Is important as a defensive midfielder.

I agree, I reckon we were in full flight in the first quarter, then backed off to 2-3 gear for the rest of the game and did what we needed to do.

I reckon we will go up a few notches in the next game. I am very confident.

It was a really good win yesterday against a good side. Brisbane controlled the clearances and had a harder edge around the contest but our backline stood up well. When it got to the outside we moved it better than them. I reckon Nank will come in for Balta and if he isn't fit I would bring Chol in. He is probably less likely to get dominated in the ruck than Balta. Maybe Ross might come back to help the clearance work. McIntosh might be looked at to help add some toughness without loosing to much run. Robinson and Hodge did a bit of damage.

just reflecting on yesterday ... some of our football in the first Q was incredible, ominous even. it won the game. Brisbane scrambled after that, having to reshape and rethink. they didn't do a bad job, but really it was over. we got a bit fiddly and arrogant, but knew when to shelve the acting and do what we needed to. its like we give the opposition clues as to what we are about but never the full story and i like that. keep 'em guessing ..

I posted on another thread that:

Age reporting Lachie Neale being investigated over a punch to Graham in 2nd qtr. Anyone see it?

Bet Christian won’t be able to find it.

I reckon RFC wouldn’t be happy that Fagan is taking his Grimes grievance to the umpires to try and get an even better deal from the umps next time around - could they RFC have tipped off the match review committee as pay back?

This is an interesting point. I watched the Brisbane post match presser as I wanted to hear what Fagan's thoughts on the game were, and when he was asked by a journalist about 'Grimes & Cameron', he didn't have anything specific to say about it, stating that he 'couldn't really see much from his vantage point' (or words to that effect).

Makes him look like a bit of a weasel if he then ran crying to the umpires...

I saw someone throw a "cut lunch" but as far as I saw it didn't connect

My thoughts exactly. We mad no significant changes during the game which is un-Dimmalike. I felt we were keeping our powder dry for the next meeting. There is no way when a oppo player is as rampant as Neal was that someone wouldn't sit on them, but it never came.
