Unlucky indeed.
Right call though. Ross' form hasn't been great in the VFL. Pickett's has been. He's turned finals when playing on the ball.
Marlion is a hard mature body that won't be intimidated.
Ross will be right. There's plenty of time for him.

I think what let him down to he didn't play on the weekend were as Pickett did, has he been playing regularly the last month Ross.
Yep. VFL bye in last round, then week off after qualifying final, then stood out of the grand final, means he's played 2 games in the last 5 weeks. That would have counted against him.

Exactly.

Ultimately that would have been it!

Feel for the kid, but he is what 18. You would hope the RFC have another chance in the next few years while the window is still open.

Hope so.

YOu would hope so but there are no guarantees. I am sure Adelaide players had those thoughts after the 2107 loss.

I don't quite get why he was pulled out of VFL final if Pickett was always in the mix. Should have been given equal opportunity to shine. Anyhow going to be exciting. We have history in the making.

So why pull him out of grand final reserves if it was always going to count against him. I don't quite get it.

I would have played him in the VFL GF. My guess is he was first in line to replace Graham and was pulled as a precaution, as was KMac for Broad. Then Pickett made his case hard to resist, and the balance went against Jack.

Terrible luck for Ross. But he is a young fella and has his whole career ahead of him. I’ve no doubt Dimma wrapped his arms around him and probably shed a tear with him.

I reckon Tigerlove Pickett wasn’t really thought of.
That’s why Stack played. An outside chance.

They couldn’t risk Ross or KMac but they wanted to give an opportunity.

But Pickett plays a very good game, BOG, Broad comes up, one spot left.

Ross vs Pickett. Ross still ahead.

MC fierce discussion.

His game was too hard to overlook and went with an experienced 27 vs a first year 18.

I don’t know S..t!

Though he probably got his hopes up after being rested from the VFL GF, I'd feel worse for Ross if he had played the prelim and got dropped for the grand final.

Big difference between being dropped and not being selected.

This all goes back to Fyfe.
Kid is flying and Fyfe in one second ends his season.
Since his return he has been no where near his form earlier in the year.
16 possessions in the midfield playing in the 2’s isn’t going to cut it,

No VFL or AFL premiership reunion for this guy. Team will need to get around him. Pickett was, and easy in hindsight, the right selection so that may make the AFL part easier to stomach... but not getting to go in the VFL one too has to sting.
