TBH way ahead of you at #330, pic and all, Bontague. :D

As for your hopes and dreams that one day Biggie will reach the lofty heights of Majak, I’m surprised you didn’t go all out and compare him to Hampson

The best thing about us is that we dont chase.
we keep our picks, we dont duck & weave and make on the spot decisions to trrade away furure picks or even current picks.
Collingwood yesterday traded away a pick that could be pick 20 (knowing stkilda) just to move up one spot.
Imagine the out cry if firstly the smurf is a dud and secondly if stkilda just put in another Email one of their stinkers and fininshes bottom 4.
We will be dancing while Collingwood will be romancing....

i know nothing about anybody we picked. But if the Tiges picked them that's enough for me and we'll see how they go.

Really liked what I heard on the Tiger Talk podcast last week.

Something about how over a long period of time the drafting in U.S. sports has shown that people overestimate their ability to judge a talent’s value, so it’s better not to over-indulge in on-the-day trading for specific talents.

The difference between talents really isn’t that large, so when a Gold Coast or a Carlton are paying to jump ahead and pick someone they rate significantly higher, over the long run they’ll end up losing with this method.

Meanwhile, Richmond play it smart and reduce our chance of hurting ourselves from our own natural biases.

No doubt we’re a club that is well aware of the shortcomings of human perception.

Rather than bother reading a single AFL media article on the draft, the real story of the draft to me is how the #1 team of the past few years is attempting to stay ahead of the curve.
Great post and so true. Much better off to have multiple decent picks than push and over pay for a single pick higher up the order.

For the record I would've went this way.

Robertson
Bianco
Ralphsmith
O'Neil
Hilder.

I'm not saying we got a dud crop or it's a disaster, I just would've gone another way. But at this point in the club's journey, only a fool would carry on, got to back the blokes who have got us this far, to these lofty heights we couldn't dream of five years ago. And you can see a plan and type we are going after.

Let the chefs pick the ingredients, we get to enjoy the meal, nothing more.

Robertson and bianco look classy in their highlights packages but I can see why we overlooked them. We put a premium on what a player can do without the ball. We look at run, intensity, pressure, repeat efforts. Full court press. There's a chapter in stronger and bolder called position over possession. Lambert never got picked in a draft but is one of our most important to how we play. Most would have picked Menzel over Castagna.

Brisbane were screwed by Dodoro, had to match a bid too early

This left them exposed due to not having any points left due to matching Coleman.

Also they took Robertson and were committed to Prior .

This means they left themselves exposed with the two academy boys we bidded on.

Have to back the team in as they have taken players that are super quick, ballistic and suit our game style

If we can improve them all mentally, then they will be great.
Fitness can be worked on, increase by 50-100%. Skills 50-100%. Mental agility, being switched on in game. 200-300%. Thats were the achievement comes from.

Couldn't the Lions just have gone into deficit next year or do they have even more academy or club tied players in 2020?

One thing impressive about new draftees from highlight packages is they tackle and tackle hard
Saw a few Towner type tackles in there.

Well, yes they could've, but that would obviously drop all their draft picks down the order next year and it seems like they didn't want to do that.

I appreciate how invested you were in this years draft Scoop and thank you for your efforts in providing insight and passion.
Like you, one gets their hearts set on certain players and feel like they’re your own children.
Lesson learnt. Never fall in love. You’ll only get hurt

The trade doesn't really make sense then if we weren't interested in Bianco. The only way I could see this coming about is if Tigers were planning on taking Bianco but agreed with Collingwood not to for a sweetener which ended in the 2nd round draft pick swap (St Kilda's position next year I understand).

If we were interested in Bianco we would have taken him with one of the three picks. It's strange that collingwood did the trade as they had the next pick. If they thought we wanted bianco why would we gift him to them? Bizarre trade by them.

That's good work there Tigerfan.

Now, are the teams competing under a handicap scheme, set weights plus penalties (noting the inclusion of Coleman, Brownlow & Norm Smith medalists in the above 22s together with its preponderance of two time premiership winners) or is it standard WFA scale??

I'm thinking Bianco might have been our preference but knowing there were others we also liked available, the offer of swapping 2nd round picks for next year outweighed the advantage of Bianco over another. It's the only logical conclusion I can come up with as to why Collingwood would do the trade. Unless they think Saints are going to finish above us next year.
