Its strange isnt it?

I cant wait. Having been deprived, I couldn't really give a **** if they played 2 x 5 minute halves in spacesuits and Brad Scott had to sit in my lounge room.

Will draw the line at Barad Scott though.

This year we were close to unstoppable and we might still be, but having a interrupted and shorten season i don't think will suit us.
I have my doubts we'll be able to complete this season, but if we do we're really going to be well placed.

We have a strong leadership group, well established structures, self-belief and high standards. These traits will place us so much better than young sides lacking onfield leadership, game situational awareness and isotraining rigour, along with flaky sides that turn up their toes (Go Deeeeeees!).

And then there are the *smile* sides, which will stay *smile*. (Go Deeeeeees!)

Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
I for one am ecstatic that footy is back and feel sorry for the people that wallow in the fact that it won't be the same, better than nothing, I will revel in watching the somewhat compromised training but won't report on PRE, too much negativity here for mine.

Why what’s being said?
ive only just got back on after a break
Can’t wait for the footy to start

back to back flags!!

I think they should put a line through round 1 and start it all again.

If we win the 2020 flag, no one bats an eye lid because we are dominant.
Won it in 2019, PF 2018, Flag 2017

if stkilda wins it - They get the Covid cup

Not as tainted as the war flags. Yet they still count towards their clubs' totals.

(Was there one year where only four clubs competed? In any case teams were compromised with players away on duty.)

Spot on!
There are all sorts of reasons why the premierships of certain seasons from way way back could be queried - like for reasons you mention and also things like the challenge system where I think we got dudded one year.
But so what?
We've all grown up with the premiership counts of each club being what they are.
Until recently we had 10 and they were great. We now 12 and it’s fantastic. We want to increase that ASAP and if we’re 13 before the end of the year sensational.
And they’ll all be dinky di

Just wondering @caesar regardless of whether you post your training reports or not, (I'm in the hoping you do crowd). ... will you need to stay on the move as you watch training, so you fall within the strict guidelines for leaving home for one of the following 5 reasons?

There are five reasons that you can leave home:

  • shop for food and other necessary goods and services
  • access medical services or provide caregiving – for example, this includes shared parenting obligations or providing care and support to an unwell, disabled, elderly or pregnant friend or relative
  • attend work or education where you can’t do those things from home
  • exercise and participate in some recreational activities adhering to the rules
  • visit friends, family and loved ones while adhering to the rules
I'm thinking you can either spend a couple of hours on the Punt Rd footpath doing a variety of stretching manoeuvres and jogging up and down on the spot..... or alternatively, if the cops pull up you can always say you are visiting loved ones and adhering to the rules!;)

I can't see how anyone could suggest this wouldn't be to our advantage.

The main thing a shorter season with shorter playing time will do is mean the best players play a bigger percentage of the game.

How could that not be to the advantage of the best team in the competition?
And with no bye, having the depth to be able to rest players will help manage the load. No one has greater depth than the reigning AFL/VFL champions.

Hmm, I might require some crowd funding for the fines ;)

hey Caesar, loved your reports and will miss them if you don’t post - does pm work in this case.

stay safe if you do travel into punt road

The 500 metre trek to PRO by foot is a dangerous one, crossing punt road is a #itch but will endeavour to stay safe ;)

To play devil’s advocate, because our gameplan does the best job of getting more out of our depth players, so teams with less depth could be less disadvantaged.

We’d more than make up for that though with our leadership group, culture, etc under adversity compared to other clubs.

Yep exactly and depth makes a good team but stars make a good team great.

Think of how Dustin tore the throat out of the finals last year, then imagine him playing 5-10% more of the game. Ditto Lynch, Grimes, Prestia etc....
It sounds right and of course I hope you are right. But I am a bit worried that the more time spent on the ground and the shorter quarters means greater speed and greater intensity, and has the potential to cause a greater number of injuries.
Last year players like Cotch and Houli with soft tissue issues, were managed beautifully.
No one has experience of the new rules which are going to be introduced ... what two weeks before the season is restarted.
We just can’t predict how it is going to turn out.

That’s not right. We have had one game under the new rules but no real experience of how the changes will play out. Not confident we can plan for that.
