Pies folded in the wet against us last year, round 19.

Our first quarter of that game was sensational.

Some things from that game. Soldo was fantastic, made Grundy a non-contributor. Pies kicked a lot more than we did but this traditional wet-weather technique didn't work for them as our defence was fully set up for it. Collingwood's forward structure was appalling. Our captain pinged his hammy half way through the first term.

Quarter time score: 5.4 to 1.2

Game over.

We should just change our name to the Richmond Ducks.
Collingwood rely on marking and intercept plays.
Put water on the ground and give them a wet ball, they're a bottom 4 side.
Im rapt we are playing them in the middle June rather round 2 in perfect conditions.

I know it isn't always accurate, but the 14 day forecast says.
Rain Very unlikely
8' at 6pm feels like temperature 7'
6-7km winds
With Hot air coming out of the Collingwood change rooms....

Imagine if we'd kicked str8....
Something to take out of it for this yr, i am not worried about shorter 1/4's going against our "grind 'em down & run over 'em" style we seem to have, we showed many times last yr & again in rd 1 we can come out all guns blazing & once we do no1 can go with us.

Someone is filling his pockets.
The Eddie we all know is all about keeping the product original and getting extra dollars through sponsorship.
Shortening the game doesn't make sense coming from eddie.

Cotchin even said on radio today our focus has been on preventing injuries. this yr u need a fit list even more than ever.
Look at the #PiesHaveInjuries for example, they just completed a review of thier medical dept. last yr & still now have the same players getting the same injuries again. Especially last yr our crew have done very well in this area & i back them in to do it all again.

I had a long chat to a pro running coach about a year ago, he is a lifelong Collingwood supporter and had come across the same type of soft tissue injuries in his athletes and worked out what was causing it.

He was mates with a Collingwood legend and his mate had organised a meeting between this coach and the Collingwood coaching staff to give them a rundown on how to reduce the injury toll.

He chickened out as the thought of having to tell this group of coaches who were being paid millions of dollars that they were causing the problem became too intimidating.

Things have not changed at Collingwood so the problem goes on and the coach has taken his advice to the club to the grave.

He did tell me the cure and when I did some research on what he believed was causing the problem it seemed he was right on the money.

P.S. its not the medical dept.

Tomorrow, Thursday, should be a full dress rehearsal one would think being only 1 week till bounce down.

To date we haven't pushed the envelope in our match play with only two 15 minute halves last Monday and three 15 minute qtrs Thursday, which may explain the lack of new injuries except for the unfortunate Cumberland who did his ACL, (Bachar was already in rehab before round 1 and still has the same calf concerns).

From what I hear Collingwood have been pretty full on with some 2 hour sessions and could explain why they are getting a few soft tissue niggles? Hopefully they won't be as hot as they were round 1.

Interesting to see what the best approach to player management turns out to be as the season rolls on.

P.S. Should have Tigers Of Old for company tomorrow so hopefully you get some fresh views rather than listening to the same broken record :D

Explains why Mc Chins wants quarters shortened as the Skunks cant run out full games as its been seen.

They are playing run and gun footy and will want to have quick draw starts and then get far enough ahead that there wont be time to be pulled back.

They ran riot in the first half of the praccie game too, they are all chips in from the first bounce to try and break their opposition and did it again to the Doggies in their opener.

Taxing style that might ramp up the injury count as the season rolls on ...................... that'd be a shame.

Short Quarters will assist them hence McGuiire happy for it.

Dont want them bastards 3 -4 goals up at the first break.

The first quarter will be crucial against them, hopefully the Tigers will be ready for them and able to counter, after all we got a good look at them in the Praccie match.

They've beaten us 3 of our last 4 meetings including the praccie match this March, round 2 last year and the prelim, prior to that, they have every reason to be confident against us.

We have however won the last meeting that actually counted last year and our setup in March was more one of trial and experimentation.

Spot on Graigy.
Meatloaf McGuire wants the game to be as short as possible. Because they're the best at capitulation.
If he could have 5 minute qtrs he would go for it.
Collingwood are like a fart, they coming out firing, then it peter's out to just dirty jocks.

Lol counting Prac match result is a fair stretch , I say we re 2-2 from last 4 with us taking the honours last time around on a wet night from the get go with lynch having a feast . R2 when jack broke his arm is our only loss with the jack and lynch combo

Not really, they have announced their style its outta the gate , they smashed the Dogs out of the blocks and if we turn up half arsed and not switched right on we could be 3-4 goals down in no time, they are front runners and if they are held up early they struggle without momentum, their whole game is about wresting momentum early and quickly.

I hate them but they are one of 2 or 3 sides that still actually fancy themselves when they take the field against us.
Its how we throttled them second time round last season, we went with them early when they were hard at it, then got in front then got on top and they didn't really fire back once we had them.

Hold em and get scoreboard pressure on early is key against them.
