Footy media , love’m or hate’ m ?

I don't have to be a spokesman to defend it, I just need to know the rules.

Here's a link with a video of it:

Watch the vision and pay attention to the 5 to 6 second mark and ask yourself if he dives on the ball? Clearly yes.

As has been clearly communicated over a number of years, if you choose to dive on a loose ball you must move it on or it is holding the ball.

Ask yourself does he move the ball on? Clearly no. Therefore holding the ball.

The only thing confusing people is that he stood back up after he dived. The reality is it doesn't matter if you stand up, do a triple somersault or stand on your head, if you choose to dive on the ball and don't get it out again then it is holding the ball.
You’re seeing what you want to see. He goes to ground to retrieve the ball (but does not DIVE ON IT) and grabs it the same time as Lyons. Ball up.

Love for him to say it to his face....

Bogat would snap him in half.
It wasn't his issue in the first place., now Ivan Bogat will do his Rocky 4 impersonation.
'I Will Break You"

Hutchinson thinks he is Tony Montana

I'm stunned anyone on here is defending an Essendon player. I might need a Bex and a lie down.

No, I'm seeing what happened.

How is going to ground by yourself not diving?

He clearly launches himself from some distance away, then scrambles on hands and knees to get over the ball. It is 100% diving on the ball.
So anyone who goes to ground is “diving on the ball”? You know you can go to ground and touch the ball, grab the ball, palm the ball, punch the ball. Going to ground doesn’t mean your “diving on the ball”.

Mid Season Review in The Age today.

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl...o-s-firing-who-s-flopped-20200730-p55h24.html

Quite a strange article really. I read it in the hard copy of The Age, and the online version is more substantial, but there was no mention of Richmond at all in the printed copy of the newspaper. How can they just ignore the reigning premiers? Also, as one of the commenters below the online version mentions: does Geelong not exist? They were Preliminary Finalists last year, FFS, both of us surely deserve a mention.

Pathetic really.

Ordinary article. Has us second least impacted due to Injuries. How do they measure that.

I dont understand how we have had players from our best 22 only miss 14 games combined? Houli, Edwards, Cotchin, Prestia, Nank, Caddy all extended absences. Bizarre.

If they are going by wins and loses, they have a point.
We're still chugging along and sitting 5th. Unlike some teams that have popped themselves.

AFl has stood down Mitch Cleary one of their afl.com journos because of his report on Brooke Cotchin for her spa indiscretion. Wonder who at the top administration level signed that off.

Appears to have been resolved now.

Anyone actually read what Whateley said, or just looked at the twitter headline and started firing?

Forget what the man looks like. Don't listen to the tone of his voice. Listen to the words. He's usually spot on.
He's a very welcome addition to what is usual the Robbo/Maclure/Jon Anderson approach of blokes at the pub talking at each other.

Wait a sec. Who tackled him? Because the whistle got blown before he was actually tackled? The guy who took the kick was fighting McGrath for the ball. So what was the free actually paid for?

It's caused chaos for all - players, umps, fans and all because the midget dawks coach had a post-game thought bubble. Its not improved the game one bit. It should have been a more considered decision, not some knee-jerk reaction.

I hadn't had a good look at that before.

You are right. The Essendon player dived towards the ball, tried to grab the ball, the Brisbane player intervenes but does not tackle the Essendon player, he tries to grab the ball. Then the Essendon player stands up and both are grabbing the ball. There is no tackle. Neither player has possession of the ball, they are both hanging on to the ball.

Clearly a woeful decision.

Why does Jonathon Brown constantly say that last years final was closer then the actual real result?
When he speaks about it, its like we won by 4pts on the last kick of the game.
I've watched that game many times.
They came out swinging, they could've been up by 15-25 at qtr time, but they weren't.
Mid way through the 2nd qtr, we started to dominate.
As soon as we hit the lead.
The game was over. The Brisbane players after half time tried there best, but when Dusty snapped the goal, while Rich stood there watching him.
It was over.

Garry Lyon threw a flying back hander to Brown on the couch last night
Brown was flogging himself that port took 2432 contested marks and Charlie Dixon is a monster blah blah.
Then Lyon returned serve, 'relax Jonathon they did take a hell of alot of contested marks but the only took 7 marks in forward 50 and only 2 were contested'
Don't let the facts get in the way Browny :rotfl1

Reckon Brown had a few too many head knocks while playing & it's clearly still affecting him.
