I can also remember a terrible belting by the Swans at Chernobyl around that period. Went to that too but stayed til the end. As we walked back through docklands after the game a Swans fan added insult to injury by trying to be nice to us.
I hate it when people try to be nice after a loss :mhihi

It’s exactly the same narrative as 2019. The entire week, all the hype and talk was about the opposition. In contrast we were treated with disdain!
By Saturday Geelong would’ve played the game in their heads several times over, which will be to their detriment. They are too arrogant and emotional.
If we bring the heat and sustain it, we will win comfortably.
That's what I am hoping. I've had a lot of people say that geelong looked awesome the last 2 matches, and they have. However when Geelong doesn't look good is when the opposition don't let them play and that's what we do better than any other team.

My summation is that if we bring the Richmond heat we will win. If we don't and let them play their game then we will have issues. I remember cameron Ling's comments during the prelim in 2017 that he felt GWS had to play perfect footy to win. That's Geelong as well.

Given our history I have to believe we will bring it on saturday night.

"you're only as good as your bottom five or six players", I have heard as one of the rules of thumb for winning AFL matches. Our bottom six from the Prelim, according to Supercoach points were -
Vlastuin
Lynch
Astbury
Riewoldt
Grimes
Castagna

After the starters gun goes off Charlie will stop, turn around and point to the starting position.

Apparently Dursma is representing the Power and Bradley Hill the Saints.
If they want Brad Hill to win they should put a footy behind him at the start line. No one runs away from a footy faster than Brad.

Leading up to the 2017 GF I was quietly confident. Felt that if we are within a goal or 2 at half time we'd run away from them in the second half. We did better than I expected.

Last year I was again quietly confident that we were the better team, and that they had played their GF the week before. I always felt we'd win well, and again it went better than I anticipated.

This year I'm still quietly confident but have a bit more nerves. I keep coming back to "if we bring the pressure they'll fold". I also wonder if just getting through a Prelim was their GF?

We've been to the big dance and won't be overawed.

Go Tigers!

Melbourne
The Emma Murray and Ben Crowe stuff is fantastic listening. One of Emma's points was not to play the game in your head beforehand or you'll be exhausted come game time. I think we saw that with Brisbane. They were sluggish from the start against Geelong, like they'd been playing that game for the past two weeks - unsurprising on reflection considering they're a mob who get ahead of themselves, much like Melbourne. Credit to Port for not falling into that trap.

So the Cats lost to Port then beat two cooked sides. Collingwood were simply done (Perth to Qld most taxing flight in footy), and the Bears, as I said, wore themselves out thinking about their impending 'deserved' premiership. There's a bit of that with Dangerfield's comments, and the talk around Ablett. Plus they have plenty who haven't been there before. They might be trying to poach Emma, but currently they are led by three blokes (Scott, Selwood, Danger) who from afar don't really appear to buy into that vulnerability sh!t.

What's the thoughts on how the tough slog win last week with half our side iced up after the game. Will it have taken alot out of our side. The other mob have had 2 training drill games and potentially will be fresher. If we play our best we win that I have no doubt but that game last week sits in the back of my head.

Have always believed that competitive matches are always better than training-type runs against poor opposition.
Ice is always present in changing rooms after matches, so I'm not too fussed that Richmond players were tending to some sore points.
Reckon it was a godsend that Brisbane beat us in the first week of finals (they played it like it WAS their grand final).
Given the unusual circumstances of the season and the hub situation, it's been good for the players to have competitive hit outs each week leading into the GF.
Reckon Geelong will have been marginally lulled into a different expectation of what this game is all about.
The Tigers, now with so much GF experience, will bring the heat and their attack on the footy and the contest will stun Geelong.
I am very confident that the Tigers know how to win the BIG one, whereas it's going to be a vastly new experience for the Cats.

My only concerns too and not many apart from you and me have brought this up.
Hope like hell that wasn’t our...

We owe The Geelong Divers a lot more pain.

To beat them in the GF would ease somewhat some of the pain they inflicted us.

To lose to them is just ‘unthinkable’.

City of Geelong are loving this, people out, pubs open , friends over & out in the streets.

Us in Melb , In Richmond city it just sad to not be able to watch it with friends, family, a barbecue, a drink..

The nerves have started and it’s Thursday. Don’t know how I’m going to go until Saturday NIGHT not Day , Saturday NIGHT.

I just can’t imagine having to listen to Scott, Dangerfield or Ablett if they were to ...can’t fathom it. I just can’t.

Don't bother with any negative thoughts, waiting. Lift! Focus on seeing Dimma and Chimp holding the silverware aloft. It's an image of beauty.

I imagine this scene with Cotch also holding up Ash Barty’s hand with his left.

Most of our team are dual Premiership players, with a couple that "only" have won one Premiership medal. They know what's needed and won't have the same nerves as Geelsook.

Then there is Noah Balta. He'll have his first medal on Saturday night.
