I feel like we,re watching the end of a few players test careers.
It seems pretty clear that Harris and Wade are not up to it. Pucosvki will come back for the next test (if he's not injured again:(). Really wish they'd give Maxwell a serious go in the middle order. I'd rather see him get a go than Head who's had plenty of chances.

Green needs to work on turning the strike over more early in his innings. Every time he bats, he's 4 off 30 balls. That's ok for an opener, but you want your No.6 to come in and get on with it. He's young and feeling his way so he gets some slack.

I tell you what, can he catch! Never fielded gully and he's shelling them like peas.

PREnders have underestimated this makeshift Indian attack.
Little guys bowling mid-130's top speed (Thakur) shouldn't be catching Test batsmen by surprise with a short ball (Harris). The great sides under Waugh and Ponting would murder this attack. Australia's batting just isn't very good.

They've tried their hearts out and kept coming and I think it's unnerved the Australians who probably expected them to roll over. But only four Tests between the five bowlers... Australia has allowed itself to be brought down to their level.

This is why I'm cautious on him, he has trouble working the ball. Plus I don't think he has got any wickets this season as a bowler.

Harris averages 38 in first class cricket. Wade has played what, 30 Tests? And averages 30. We didn't have to go down to be at their level.

No wickets but his bowling is promising, he has a lot of growing into his frame to do.

Maxwell averages marginally better than Head @ FC Level - 39.8 and in his 7 Test matches he averaged 26

Our batting depth aint that great

Unlike Head and Wade and pretty much every batsman we've ever promoted to the Test side, Maxi has never been given the chance to play a few Tests in a row, in the same batting position. And none in Australia.

Our bowling lineup is far, far better, bordering on great. If it can’t defend defend this innings + 30-odd then it holds the batting up to ridicule.

And yet the way we're playing, we're afraid their weakened batting line-up will set a Gabba chase record against said attack.

Weather may intervene again tomorrow but truth is India don't deserve to lose this series. Might be the outcome that prompts an honest appraisal of our stocks, especially batting. Bbl + no Shield cricket these last couple months doesn't help unearth & develop talent. Long form cricket should always be #1 priority. T20 on a par with rugby 7s...zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Sydney showed that drop-in pitches have rendered traditional benchmarks moot. In Sydney Warne reckoned 250 lead was enough and here he said Australia should declare at tea, regardless of the score. 300+ is likely beyond them after the rain (although Australia scored at the required rate in the second innings). I think India deserves to square the series and walk away with a moral victory, even after the 36 in Adelaide.

There is only one flaw in your logic. The Gabba is not a drop-in.

Oh! Brisbane Lions wanted a drop-in citing injuries and I just assumed it was a drop-in now given all the traffic the Gabba had in the footy season without a spate of injuries. And it was playing so well until this afternoon when the odd one started popping.

In that light, if Australia happened to get beaten here it would rank with our very worst defeats.

Possible severe storm forecast for the morning. Hopefully they can get the full day in.

Been a fantastic series. Our bowlers get a second chance to knock India over on the last day. Weather looks pretty clear, pitch playing a few more tricks than Sydney so the $1.90 looks good value.

Few observations:

- No shield games make it near impossible for guys to come in from the cold with zero cricket and make runs. Warner and Harris almost get a free pass.
- Lyon is far more threatening when the wicket has some bounce and he does have some limitations only turning it one way, but don't underestimate his value or greatness. Ask where we would be without his control and wicket taking ability.
- This Indian team have huge depth as Spook pointed out. Interesting tweet that may have played a part:

Sharma out, bowling fullish and straight, who'd have thought that might work.

Good take from Paine, moved pretty well for an old bloke.
