In winter i like a dark ale, there's a Belgian beer called Chimay Blue, it's made by Trappist Monks, it's very nice.
It's 9% so i don't drink to many of them. A couple of them and then a glass of red goes down very well.

Just bought some of these cause I wanted to try a lambic beer, it is very nice.

worth a separate debate about about the worst beers. everyone knows how much I hate Corona. But Australian beers? Not sure if I can go past West End Draught. But I always have to have one every time I'm in Adelaide for the lols.
You’re bringing back bad memories from the 70’s when there was regularly a shortage of beers do to brewery workers strikes. Had to try and stomach beers such as West End and KB......where’s that vomit emoji.

I reckon any beer made on water taken out of the arse end of The Murray tastes like cotton herbicide and rotting carp.

Im a social pariah around Byron because I hate Coopers and Stone and Wood.

I got accused of being a hipster the other night cause I was drinking MB. I simply told the person

'get *smile*'

which ended the conversation pretty promptly.

Tooheys New! Good suggestion, but again, geo-blocked by Dan Murphys and you can't purchase it in Victoria, website says only available Qld and NSW. Looks like the macro-brewers have got together and divided up the country, Mafia style.

I used to like Coopers, then I found out the owners are partners with the Bible Society and got into bed with the Liberal party to sponsor a push to reject marriage equality in 2017. Bunch of backwards-thinking bigots. Agree about Stone & Wood, can't stand the taste.

Try Pirate Life if you haven't already. It is the best thing to come out of South Australia since Jack Graham.

Just wanna have a whinge about the beers on sale at the MCG last night.

I sit in M1 most games. There is a dungeon bar called Lockup underneath M1. They usually sell full strength Carlton Draught at night games... The exception is that you have to drink it there. You're not allowed to take it to your seat.

Anyway, I went to Lockup to have a quickie schooner before the first bounce. But there was no full strength Carlton Draught available. Only Great Northern ($9.40) and 4 Pines ($11.50). They didn't have the cheaper Carlton Mid ($8.20) as an option either.

So I thought bugger that, I'll try another bar. Same thing. Only Great Northern and 4 Pines to be seen. No cheaper option such as Carlton Draught or Carlton Mid there either. I tried 2 more bars. Same thing.

So what is the story here? No more Carlton beers at the MCG? Or was this a one off? I asked one of the staff and they said it was a trial. But I'm not sure I believed him. Looks like I'm going back to the hipflask as I'm not paying those prices for watered down beer.

so last week against Port and GWS the week prior, they had Carlton Draught and Carlton Mid available. But last friday against the pies only Great Northern ($9.40) and 4 Pines ($11.50) were sold. I'm starting to think they only make the more expensive options available for the blockbuster games in an attempt to rip off the punter. what a scam.

Day games-Night games is the reason isn't it?

I might have given people a bum steer on Pirate Life - I had a pint of the Pirate Life Pale Ale at The Mitre Tavern on the weekend - absolutely foul. It tasted like expired Carlton Draught with a teabag of extra hops dangled in it. Checked online - yep, Pirate Life was bought out by AB Inbev (CUB) and now they have clearly altered the recipe to include their standard cheap ingredients.
Avoid.

If that’s the case, then why didn't they sell Carlton Mid and Cascade Light? They actually had Pure Blonde Mid on the price list for $8.00, but the people behind the bar said they weren't selling it. Wasn't too impressed after waiting in line for a while.

Can you believe the lady behind the bar called security on me after I made my point to her? They actually set 4 cops on me. after calmly talking through it with them, they accepted I wasn't being aggressive, swearing, etc, and common sense prevailed. I'm still debating if I should report her to the MCC.

Noticed the advertising for 'Frothy' has been stepped up at the grounds.

Quite drinkable for a mainstream beer I reckon.

Indeed mainstream - Frothy is made by Matilda Bay, a company bought by CUB years ago, which in turn was bought by AB Inbev in 2016 ... there's no avoiding these a******s, they want to own all our beers! I'll give it a shot and see what it tastes like anyway.

I bought a slab of Mountain Goat Very Enjoyable Beer for $42 at Dans the other day during a lockdown panic trip. Haven't cracked it open yet, but will do tomorrow night (trying for 3 alcohol free days p/w). Anyone tried this yet?

in the last 6 weeks, I have gone alcohol free except a small window between 5pm-11pm on saturdays. i've broken it twice so far. once on my misses birthday (Easter Monday) and last weekend where i had 2-3 extra after working really long hours.
