Does the black top make the players look slimmer or have half the team lost muscle?

Just watched this game. I wonder if commentators live in the same world as the rest of us. DeGoey is the second coming if u ask Dwayne (wants his live child). No Nank or Cotch in second half and add Shanks, Dusty, Grimes off for last quater and commentaors carry on like we were lucky to win. Give me a break. hahahahaha wankers.

Get ready for that all year. The AFL media is not interested in selling the Richmond 3 peat tale.

I have been pondering who will be picked for the wings against Carlton, given Marlion seems to have been relegated and Caddy seems to be getting full game time (and playing well).

Which has made me wonder if Dimma has a plan to play all three of McIntosh, Caddy and Pickett. Given Houli is unlikely to play for at least the first month, depending on the opponent and time in the game the three will rotate together between the wings and back flank. We got a glimpse in the GF when McIntosh went back and steadied the ship, and we have seen that Marlion is quite assured in the backline - both on the ground and in the air.

Caddy meanwhile is less of a backman but versatile enough to play forward or stints in the middle. And Baker and Shorty quite able wingman also against shorter opponents (not that height has ever seemed to factor into Baker's footy!).

Thoughts?
Marlion did play back tonight so u r probably onto something there mate

Yet the Pies fans are all over social media blaming the umpiring etc. Cox never gets frees etc (he got 3 frees).

The irony of a Pies fan calling another team the umpires pets is not lost on me (it probably is on them as they aren't all that smart).

Amazing. Can only remember 2 of the 3,one barely there, Chol, one nowhere near a free, Balta. Cox is an umpires pet, probably only because he's so big he draws the eye.

I don't know, I kind of like him for it. He's got some ticker and that's all we ask of anyone here. He's not much good but makes up for it in lip and flair.
If you earn it fine but when you give lip after a goal when you've had 3-4 disposals in a game, which there have been many of, just makes you look like a total flog. There's only 1 game he earned his stripes and that's been well documented. Commentators cream themselves, even when he fumbles, gathers again, and gives off a 50cm handball to a teammate under pressure. He's massively tall and he's American. Only reason he gets so much focus and still playing at the top level. An achievement to make it to this level in the first place but just not up to it.

Some interesting TOG numbers from last night's game.

Of Collingwood's big names, Jeremy Howe on 67% was the lowest (not counting Sidebottom, 9% due to injury). Looking through the data, it was clearly Collingwood's plan to get miles in the legs. Or was it? Maybe the early trend of the game made them worry they were going to get blown off the park. Interesting that neither Bianco or Greenwood got a run despite being there and kitted up.

Moore 96%, Pendlebury 89%, Roughead 94%, Crisp 88%, De Goey an injury-affected 76%, Grundy 86% and Maynard an injury-affected 82% were each notably high.

By way of contrast, the takeout from the Tigers' numbers is much the same as the Melbourne game, where it would seem as though pre-determined minutes were to be played regardless of the match score.

Martin 64%, Cotchin 32%, Grimes 63%, Rioli 72% and Nankervis 35% were notable for low minutes.

It really highlights where the respective teams are currently at :clap1

Dunno about losing muscle per se. Reckon it's more about losing bulk n retaining lean muscle. New rule adjustments n the practice games so far show a more open rebound higher running game.
Got a feeling the chunkier n bulkier players are going to struggle to run out games late n may also have soft tissue injury issues during the year, purely from a combination of bulk n workload.

Reckon Figgy might b feeling the heat.
Got beat by the Moggies in a scratch match.
Got beat by us last night, where he employed a flood for most of the game n played all his best players as long as possible. Why would you not utilise all the players in the team in a practice match n let everyone get some game day miles in the legs.
Got the Woofers for round one so there's no walk up start n they could be zippers from the three early games.
Got no Eddieeeee to cover his arse this year n with everything that's already gone down, there'll be no patience or mercy from the heaving unwashed n toothless masses.

Caddy's main weapons are his field kicking, his strong body over the footy and his ability to be an outlet kick target as a marking option.

His goal kicking is also a major strength and he reads the play.

When you get a *smile* free, a lucky free, a mistake free, that is NOT the time to give your oppo some lip. I don't mind Cox and what he has achieved in our game but someone needs to explain some cultural aspects.
Major cultural aspect in Australia you don't shoot ya mouth off when ya cant back it up or ya dont claim credit for what you didn't do.

Hubris is a BS American cultural aspect.

That was the one that probably most surprised me. For example, it was a perfect chance to look at Bianco, much like they did with Henry and Ruscoe. Conversely, we gave good minutes to all of Martyn, RCD, Dekka, CCJ and Chol. Not only that, we gave them important roles—Martyn tagging, RCD in the guts, CCJ at full forward, Chol in the ruck.
