AFL360

AFL must do everything in the powers to reduce concussions. An example needs to be set in round 1. 4-5 weeks IMO.

there is nothing accidental about deliberately running into someone.

I love efficiency in word selection to achieve maximum effect from minimum word count. That is a perfect summation of the argument for suspension. Love it.

if dangerfield wanted to protect himself he would not have change directions to make contact to the player. HE definitely moved to the player to bump even though he could have ran across the players path to effect the kick or tackle

yeah I dont get the bit where he says he needed to protect himself either when he initiated the contact , and to make it worse i believe he also knew it was going to be late contact as well ,

similar to the vlastun contact to me , and everyone gave him the benefit of the doubt with the first one ,

its not blatant , but I believe in both cases there was subtle intent to hurt his opponent while they are vulnerable , and that is two consecutive games

Dangerflog WAS the aggressor in BOTH of these incidents . Maybe he needs to "protect himself" from himself.
He certainly doesn't protect his fellow players. You would think that in his role as AFLPA President he would maybe bear that in mind. In He struts around with his chest puffed out like an overheated Peacock not really giving a fat rats clacker about anyone but himself.

Ran straight at a player and knocked them out - 2 games in a row.

There really is only one conclusion to draw on his repeated behaviour.

Repeat Offender - 2 words that say 'don't learn' or 'can't learn' ..
it says a lot about his character, and the cheap words he had for the incident yesterday only magnified this
i hope supporters from other teams give it to the conceited twat this season

Watched the Vlastun incident a few times over summer while watching replays of the game ,

personal opinion,

I dont believe the arm automatically goes into that high forearm bumper bar position straight after hitting the ball if there is no one coming from the opposite direction

poor form from Stagerfield saying he was protecting himself. Would have earned more respect if he just apologised and left it at that.

My thought exactly. You tend to bring your shoulder up to protect your head when you have little time to react. I know that was my reflex action. I accept it happened quickly but there were 2 actions. He was lucky to get off.

I know for a fact he never reached out to Vlastuin to see how he was post GF.

Yep.
With the Kelly one, leading up to the collision he was run down from behind, so got up angry, with intent and accelerated into Kelly.
I think Stagerfield should cop the full consequences - to me that means three weeks, but I reckon he'll get two and possibly just one.
The residual McAveney-inspired media golden boy halo effect will temper what should be a decent suspension.
If he was a low profile player he would get his full and right whack (ie remember when Neal-Bullen got a ridiculous four weeks for a sling tackle?).
And if he was Tom Lynch The Axe Murderer he would get deregistered.

My personal opinion is that of you wanted to harm someone you were charging toward you’d brace your arm like a bumper bar for max damage , if you owed your opponent a duty of care and you meant it, you wouldn’t brace your forearm Like that
