In the paper it says he will have a criminal record now. Does that sound right for a fine?
It doesn't sound right to me, Ledge. But who knows if the journo has got it wrong or the WA legal system has been overly punitive with a blackfella. Even money either way really.

$6,000 for a souvlaki?
World's most expensive souvva!
Reckon even George Calombaris wouldn't charge that much! :))

Seriously, is he still over there?
Needs to get the hell out of Dodge before they change their minds.
When's the next flight?
He needs to be on it.

Really

Two with jail time. One without. Anyone willing to guess why?
It does seem a bit odd but Hogan got away with it because he invited someone into his quarantine residence and did not go out in public. He also rang the Police and self-reported his breach. It's got nothing to do with skin colour.
There are numerous caucasian quarantine breachers who have spent an equivalent time to Syd in gaol in Perth and have actually copped larger fines.

This why we will continue to win premierships and build a great organisation. Making players and staff into great people is the key. Helping work out issues so they can play better football and be a credit to themselves and to Richmond.

Much has been said of Stacky and his failings but I don’t believe that the Club is free of mistake in this case.

The speed with which the penalty was imposed by both RFC and the AFL effectively denied him any defence.
The 10 week suspension was disproportionate to any penalty previously or since imposed and the severity was triggered not by his own actions, but by the earlier actions of someone who was not a contracted player.

The amount of money he was also required to pay the Club as a further penalty, was also directed with out regard to his personal circumstances and ability to pay.

He has been put through the ringer and has became a victim unlike any other.
If he gets up and plays for us in our next grand final, many will seek to share his success.
And possibly rightly so, but IMO if he does manage it that success will reflect only on his own courage and on his own effort.

I just can't agree that Syd's a victim. He was given an opportunity and is now being given another. It's hard work and it'll always be hard work. If he can't learn to relish it as others have, fine, but he will fail through no fault of anyone else's.

having read marlion's book I have a lot more sympathy for these boys - marlion did brilliantly to sort his life out from a very challenging upbringing

The WA government and Victorian government are on par with ineptitude
As proven by Stack's repeated Covid breaches and related legal consequences? Right?

Perhaps you need to check out the results of the last state election in each state to get some idea of whose real world awareness is completely missing.

Meanwhile the Federal LNP government is doing a great job in the cesspit of Canberra along with NSW - state of corruption, where appalling land deal rorts of taxpayers money and doing-it-tough farmers' water rights - proceed all while the premier is sleeping with a venal politician seeking more shonky deals but ... poor woman had NO idea.

Hope you are living in one or the other. You deserve it for your atrocious ignorance.

Marlion Pickett
It's a lot of responsibility to be landed on Pickett. He'll be 29-30 (?) and it will be an increasingly difficult battle for him to force his way into the Seniors. Reckon he's got enough on his plate.

Stig would be disappointed he didn't get jail time
He did get Jail time and it was well deserved. WA has avoided any significant lockdowns due its hard stance on COVID breaches. Good on em I say. Only wish a few of the ScoMo sycophants in the East would do the same. Instead they'd rather everyone suffer in return for some selfish personal agenda

So no more responsibility than any other player on the list?

I don't know either of them outside of being footballers or indigineous people, but on face value i'd say Marlion is the perfect person to be a mentor for Syd.

He's not expected to chaperone Syd wherever he goes to stop him getting into mischief, but some general life counselling could go a long way.

All that for only a $6K fine, *smile* ridiculous. WA authorities should be ashamed of themselves.

Compare Stack to the penalty these two women got - no conviction and community work and I think what they did was worse.

The hurdles Stack has been made to jump over are disproportionate compared to others
