Well said. So the only difference is that, perhaps unlike other professional competitions, the AFL want to interfere with its professional competition and manufacture outcomes to meet its perceived aims, not allow the results to be determined by the clubs and teams autonomously on their field of play alone?
No.
The difference is that, unlike other professional competitions, they have no-one to answer to. Cricket, soccer, rugby, any "normal" sport, have other national controlling bodies looking over their shoulders, not to mention INTERnational controlling bodies. The AFL can do what they like. End of story. Why they choose to is another matter, but the main difference is that they can.

Higgins was a disaster 1st rounder.
Liam Ryan, Allen and there were several others we could've taken
That must of been the jokes Higgins was cracking while at RFC
“Can you believe I was your first round pick!”

We must've still been pissed from the GF on draft night.
I couldnt believe we recruited another small, when in 2017 we had Bulter, castagna, Rioli and Bolton on the list.
Oscar Allen roaming CHF on the MCG wouldve been a thing of beauty.
**Maybe they were still traumatized after Griffens, Elton, Post, McBean & Vickery.

They should change the name of AFL to Ultimate Frisbee. Do away with the ball and use instead the flying disc.

What an enormous *smile* up.

If the media turn, and there are signs that they are, then watch how quickly SHocking ‘alters’ his rule changes. The AFL don’t run the game anymore, it’s talking heads with a platform.

So he likes the new rules, but doesn't like the results of the new rules?
Is this how AFL "journalists" criticise the AFL without risking their AFL Media accreditation, or is he just a *smile* wit? Hard to tell
I thought the new rule has saved the game? The best thing that's ever been introduced? Just ask mincey and the other experts.

Yeah, thats what they say.
Do they mention what it is that it needed saving from? Richmond winning flags perhaps?

I'd say a dollop of reactive appeasing of broadcasters desire for more goals/ ads, a slug of wrong-headed desire for non-stop, free flowing footy, (if its all like that, its gets boring!), and a pinch of wanting less hits so mums will let their kids play and players won't sue for health impacts of concussion down the track.
How Many concussions this year already though? I’d guess there has been an increase. Tired people running ultra hard in a zig zagging contest will increase head clashes.

But we have to have less interchange, because apparently a bunch of exhausted players jogging around will improve the game as a spectacle.

Does that Eleni chick ever shut up ? She’s a cheat too. Massive Scumwood fan that always umpires to their benefit in their games.

My missus insists on watching the CH7 news. I can absolutely guarantee you that Tom Browne is a gibbering imbecile. He wouldn't be either smart enough or brave enough to criticize anything the AFL does.

Manipulating the game to ensure finely tuned athletes are overtired by the last qtr is appalling.

The fact that we will keep watching because of our love of the game really annoys me, as I’d like for them to pay for their buffoonery.

If we played Freo instead, we would've been on the same gear but won. Just unlucky to be fixtured against these frenzied ducks who I'm sure will fadeout later in the season.

Looks like another blowout. Admittedly Fremantle are awful, but Carlton also aren’t that good. These new rules are really working a treat, eh?
