GAME DAY - TIGES V SAINTS

What are they paying Hill? $800k?
We have Pickett and Macintosh on a third of that combined and they both made Hill look like a petrified school boy.

Hill sleeps with the lights on.

Great night to watch the footy.

We were outstanding, going to be bloody hard to pick the top 5.

We closed off all avenues to Saints, so when they did get some opportunities to break they ended up second guessing themselves and turning back and then the pressure would force yet another turnover. No idea how many we got from turnover but it would have been a high % of our shots at goal. We made them look slow and they stopped playing on instinct and then they become the fodder to our cannon.

Well that was nice. The pressure was back which I really enjoyed. Looked more like a Richmond game.

We certainly needed that win. A slow start to the season and time to pick it up a bit with a few challenging games in front of us. Melbourne and Footscray are genuinely good so we need to bring that pressure for a few more weeks.

Thought Lynch was better this week. I do agree playing in front would be good but he seemed to be running around more which makes it harder to double team him.

Lots of good players tonight. Shai is just magic, Shedda was his usual creative self, Dustin worked into the game, Houli a bit variable, Jack great. Too many to mention. Mansell did a few good things, looks like he can play at this level. Marlion was outstanding.

I was saying to my daughter before the game that we would end up -10 free kicks, and how bloody predictable was that? I did notice a few situations where StKilda players dropped low to attract a high contact free kick (but, really, nothing compares to that Port player jumping into a Richmond player last weekend and getting a free right in front of goal, absolutely stunning that you can get away with that). The biggest problem with is is that they need to decide whether dropping low means you get the free for high contact or not. The adjudication of this is woeful. One right near us, the StKilda player drops, gets a bit of arm on the shoulder, free kick 10m out right in front. Ok, fine, it was high contact - but how many of those happen in a game and it is a complete lottery whether they are paid as high contact. KMac missed a game after being contacted high, and conceded a free kick. How many of our players coped some high contact near goals? Plenty, but no free kicks for us. Gross incompetence.

Brilliant win. But still think we left another 10 goals out there just from *smile*-farting around. Not a complaint; just a fact.

Another -10 *smile* differential. I am just resigned to it being AFL policy. We are just too good ... and umpires are tasked with trying to curtail us and giving the opposition a better chance with effectively an extra player to even up the matches.

Exactly. Well said.

Couple more things, now I think about it.

We did seem to be manning up a lot more this week, possibly a reaction to the changes in the game this year. It has been noticeable that we needed to tweak some things and we seem to be adapting now to the faster game.

We seemed to run out the game much better too, we were still going right to the end.

Lots of our players were losing their footing. What is with the surface at that ground? Players seemed to fall over all the time. Maybe the surface is not deep enough or something as this is a stadium with a roof so it shouldn't be slippery.

Sorry, edit for another thought, this game was yet another blow out, the new rules certainly seem to lead to more one sided games.

I believe we have some genuine ruck issues. Nank needs a rest, he should be dominating the ruck but isn't. Been very ordinary last few weeks.
About the 3rd post from u re Nank. He was actually great, destroyed his opponent IMO and did so all game. Crazy talk right here.

I just finished watching the game a second time when I was more relaxed. I thought the reason why we were so good was the guy's played for each other and supported their mates like their lives depended on it. This game showed we have something than no other club has

This was a statement make no mistake about it. At the game, you could just see the pressure was relentless. We suffocated them and they continually coffeed it up. Everyone contributed across the board. What a cohesive unit.

One thing that really impressed me was we didn't let up, kept the foot on the throttle and demolished them. The percentage jumped from 102% to 124.9%

Pickett was brilliant, how many times did he out jump Carlisle in the ruck. It was bordering on laughter. Gave Nank a good chop out.
Mansell improved on last week.
Broad unheralded good game, strong overhead.
Well done to Rioli thought he played well.
Baker had a great game, took some strong marks and used the ball quite well.
Shai Bolton what a dead set gun.

Jack Graham bang 3 goals and 12 tackles!!!
Dusty was everywhere bought off more than he could chew on some of his kicks but that's dusty doesn't play safe likes to break open games, sometimes it works, well most times and other times it doesn't. I lost count of how many tackles he broke.
Jack wow back to his best, moving well, the ol jumpin jack.
Nankervis what a warrior, 22 disposals, 40 hit outs and 6 tackles
Edwards just poetry in motion, an impressive game.

If you want a good laugh go to the Cats Big Footy board other matches thread.

They are saying we are kissed on the *smile* by the umps and duck for frees and 50's and our forward wouldn't kick any goals if not for the Umps..........

I'm deadly serious ........................

Laughable can you believe it.... I heard Geelong was the Ice Capital of Vic now I believe I've seen the evidence to back that up.
