This is the biggest concern i believe. Our success has glossed over our genuine lack of any good young players coming through in all positions. We have also wasted too much time on players that were never going to make it ala Chol and Egg. Apart from MRJ i really do not see anything that has me excited
Unless the rules change again we are screwed because so few of our players can kick well enough to hit targets in this spread and keep off gamestyle. Our handball game is a fumbly mess.

We couldn't get near them because they could not only kick well and hit targets by hand but also apply more pressure than we did.

Yes, have wondered what's going on with him. Has gone off this year. Because he's won a flag so early? Driven to distraction by poor umpiring? Can't work it out.
Dropping his marks; giving away dumb frees at times. Not making the good decisions he used to. But losing doesn't seem to hurt much, a lot of grinning post-game.
Needs to be settled at full back & left there. Back to basics. Ruck experiment over.

Hate to say it but Lynch has been a major disappointment since being recruited. Whats he played at most 4 or 5 decent games since he's come to the club?? Im guessing he's the second highest paid player at the club, and for the return we are getting is just not good enough.

Midfield was horrendous. Cotch is past it and has had no influence all year. Ross is not the answer, and is an extremely poor field kick.

Rioli needs a long spell, ... loses every contest and offers nothing. I know the small forward position is the hardest to play, but give us something, wheres the chasing, the tackling...

Liked what i saw in Mansell tonight, probably the only positive the entire night.

We are more stagnant than ever. Our delivery into 50 just consists of kick it long and high and hope for the best. Lynch doesn't look like marking it, and we have no crumbing forwards to speak of. It's all random luck that nets goals for us, and too often now, we're seeing opposition teams just play the extra defender and rebound with ease.

I really have no idea what our small forwards bring to the table any more. No goals, no tackling, no pressure. I'm really struggling with our gameplan, or lack thereof forward of centre.

Yeah seems like a care free character that may have tasted the ultimate success a little too early. Could be absolutely anything but could also just drift through the rest of his career with glimpses of freakish football and large parts of laconic ordinary games

We don't win the 2019 flag without Lynch. Doesn't quite clunk them as he should be still a good player.

Hate to admit it but these guys could be the real deal. I didn't rate any of their previous wins but they really showed something across all lines tonight. Depth too, they pantsed our VFL. We'll need to study them closely in case we meet them again come September. Composure up forward and creating separation has to be part of it. I'd have played Balta for periods up forward to see if an extra tall could've made their defenders more accountable. Rioli, Castag and Aarts were innefective for most of the night.

Yep, sausage
The Dees came to play
Absorbed Richmond's intensity and pressure over the first 15-20 minutes
After that they put the foot down and motored away across all lines, as you say.
If they can maintain that type of performance then they will figure in the finals.
The Tigers were, overall, pretty ordinary tonight. That was a combination of many players playing well below standard and the manner in which the Dees attacked the footy. Melbourne were good tonight, very good.

Agree and disagree with many , yep I still think we’ll be there when whips are cracking , though injuries can cause a big problem, however I also think the dees will also bee there , they have all areas of the ground covered , plus many good kids in the magoos, that’s beside brown and Weideman , they may not go all the way, but there as good as any other team outside of us in September

Can’t see what all the worry is PRE.

Its April, we lose game and lose badly early in the season.

Sit back. Remember we have back to backs in the bag, footy is good.

We will have ups and downs and happy to have a down now

- 2018 we didn’t have a down till the end of the year and we didn’t make the grannie
- 2019, we had 2 shockers in the first 3 rounds, lost to the pies (44pts) and GWS (49 pts) and then a bit later 3 shockers in the row, lost to lolnorf (37 pts), cats (67 pts), and Adelaide (33 pts) but all I remember is that 2019 was a bloody good year.

We do our best work later in the year.

We will get to see some debutants next week - can’t wait.
