GAME DAY Tiges V Eagles

Problem is the game has evolved and teams have worked us out. We tried the old game plan against Melbourne and Cats and they just absorbed and then blew us away. We need to evolve but Dimma needs to realise so does the playing list. We just dont have the quality to change mid season. Our list was built on chaos ball but that plan is done and dusted. Thats why i cant see us winning it this year. Just too many dumb footballers to execute a different game plan
Nah, everyone thought teams figured us out in 19 and 20 also. We'll be giving away our edge and kiss goodbye to any flag hope this year and in the immediate future if we go away from our DNA.

Two weeks of barely playing more than 25 minutes of Richmond football against average sides.

Bye at the right time for us, we are playing very average.

Got we deserved tonight.
Yes that loss is on us and us alone. The umpires reamed us but we still should have won. We keep butchering the *smile* ball and it cost us badly tonight. Our skill level is a real concern. We get it easily enough to win most games but we just keep butchering it.

Yes yes yes. Disappointing conservative selections are really hurting us now. Another tall frees up broad to run, caddy on a wing *smile*!, Rioli *smile*!, aarts *smile*!, castagna *smile*! I don’t get it
Broad did run. 20 disposals, 9 intercepts. He played on a small, Ryan, and dismantled him I thought.

Going to be interesting, after a couple of weeks off, to see if Dimma and the MC make some important changes to the team going forward.
Caddy, Rioli, Castagna, Pickett, Aarts, Chol are surely on shaky ground

Not Jacks fault as three times in last ten minutes we popped it up for that flog Barrass as that is all he is good for. Free kicks down again 25 to 15. That last mark by Kennedy must have travelled about 10 metres.
Our most dangerous in the air all night was CCJ, yet we kept kicking it to Jack.

Geez we missed Nank tonight. No chance they take easy marks inside forward 50 if he played.

3 premierships in 4 years I suspect. Full belly....

I can’t believe how many times Jack was out marked by Barrass tonight. He was borderline uncompetitive in the air especially in the last quarter. What the hell happened to him?

And on the two occasions we went inside 50 in the last 10 minutes we just decided to kick it to Hurn for an uncontested mark. Geez we’ve seen some really bizarre play from our team this year.

I am just so frustrated ( had to go for a walk to calm myself down) this chip chip footy is not are game look in the last quarter in the space of 3 min we we kicked 3 goals from just playing our run and gun get the ball moving foward style, why did we stop and why did we not play that way for the game. Really disappointed in our leaders they were vertically no existent for the entire game. So many turnovers that keep in the game at a guess there would have been 11 of their 13 goals come from our turnovers! There got 2 weeks to do some soul searching and find that spark / motivation to want go down as one of the old time great teams in AFL / VFL history. I still believe in them but do they ?

Yeah but the new rule has also put a dent in that game style as teams can easily play on and move the ball. We needed the slow down create a contest footy. Thats no longer possible. Also trying to play manic pressure for 4+ years is too taxing unless you are constantly rejuvenating the list. We must evolve just dont think we can do it quick enough this year. Hope im wrong

Riewoldt had a shocker - first with the kick around the corner directly in front, and then being constantly outmarked by Barras multiple times.
Reckon Jacks mind was on home and family, hard to blame him with young kids. Hard Tom maintain the rage for so long. He’s a champion though so expect him to respond as such.

Looking ahead to 2022 - none of those six (maybe apart from Aarts) should be in the team. Already there’s Nank & Prestia to come back plus Stack & Parker will probably be given a go. On top of that you’d hope some of the kids would step up (Dow for a start - Collier-Dawkins needs to spend the summer running - find speed, endurance or both).

Need to turn over the defensive small forwards on our list to keep the position viable. They look like they have vertigo and have forgotten how to play footy. Stick some hungry young fellas down there. The game plan works if the small forwards are manic. The adjustment I think we need to make this year is one more tall in the team. ... Miller perhaps...

Id be happy to give every other team their full list as long as we had ours. The difference if Nank and Soldo play tonight is night and day. Unfortunately some of our depth just aint good enough. Add to that some shocking match committee selections or non selections and you have what you have

Well that sucked.

My observations
- we lost it by constantly kicking it to Jack DTL from defensive 50. I lost count how many times he got outmarked. From now on we should be kicking it to CCJ. We need someone who can at least bring it to ground, and Jack is just uncompetitive in the air
- Chol was destryed, absolutely and utterly destroyed. Was one of the most one sided ruck performances ive ever seen in the 4th, ehich ultimately killed us
- this new game style playing uncontested footy cannot be sustained. We just dont have the foot skills to play this way. Too many just butcher it, most noteably mcintosh and pickett.
- Rioli offers nothing and needs to be replaced asap. Any kid would be better.
- Was a Caddy fan but have to agree he just isnt suited to out game style. Love his smarts but cant play wing.
- cotch unfortunately i think is finished. Love the man but surely this is his last year.
