I think she is too beholden to the Alan Jones' of the world who are borderline anti-vax and certainly anti-logic.
'Murdoch' is the word I think you're looking for. He's the one who hired Jones.

When Gladys started pushing for keeping their 'Freedoms' today as well as trying to implement a lockdown it infuriated me. What she really means is making sure her mates at the top end of town don't get their bottom line hurt whilst others are making sacrifice. It's as inbetween as a lockdown gets, backed by the Prime Minister of NSW. Leaving everyone else *smile*.

PS: I wouldn't be surprised if the other Premiers walked away from 'National' cabinet after Morrison's presser today.

And 80% of PRE experts with the below

The NSW government has tried to navigate a middle road in pandemic policy combining excellent testing, tracing and isolation measures with a strong desire to maintain the principle of proportionality in this response. Unfortunately, the Delta variant showed the limitations of this approach. The philosophy of the risk-averse experts is self-fulfilling. Complain long enough that a government hasn’t gone hard and fast enough, and eventually you will get it right, no matter how wrong you have been in the past.
Pretty much everyone ITT opined that NSW waited too long to lock down. The point is, we should be getting better at it; Victoria certainly is. Good Time Gladys tried to get away with half-measures.

MD Jazz I know you've praised Gladys a lot over the distance. Was this the 1st outbreak in NSW in the SW Sydney area compared to places like the Northern Beaches? Ie. where the socio economic demographic of the area is similar to the Northern suburbs of Melbourne where we have seen pretty much every outbreak in Melbourne.

So pretty much they've been lucky until now? Vic unlucky/NSW lucky is a constant narrative on here. There is no doubt they got this outbreak wrong. But their method was correct on a number of previous occasions. Understandable in some ways they relied on their usual methods. They underestimated Delta. It's almost purely political now. You'd think Gladys had killed 000's given the carry on here. One poster in particular has posted nothing but aggressive hatred since the start. Even when they handled previous outbreaks successfully and well its been nothing but abuse for Gladys. Coatsworth has written a well measured article.

Ultimately the one person most at fault is our PM. The division and antagonism lies squarely with him. No strategy for 18 months. Non-existent leadership. The sooner is consigned to history the better for the nation.

Norman Swan is not anti AZ, he had AZ himself including taking the second dose early.

Hilariously (kinda) they are now saying second AZ after 4 weeks and Pfizer after 12.
I didn't think Coatsworth was aiming at Swan myself although it comes across in my post I am agreeing. with jb03 by saying And.

So I'm hypothesizing here, but was Gladys just lucky last year and earlier this in terms of the locality that the outbreaks have occurred in in Sydney compared to Melbourne?
Absolutely! The virus doesn't discriminate but the factors you mentioned would influence how easily/stealthily the virus can move through the population.

The media won't pick up on this (they'll ignore it), but it's actually quite significant.

Remember last year when Andrews was criticised for "refusing ADF forces to help with HQ?" Well Morrison said yesterday the ADF can't do enforcement. Straight from the horses mouth. Caught out in yet another lie.

I believe under Australia’s Constitution that States have to request ADF personnel. It’s the same when there are major bushfires etc.
The State makes the request. Feds can’t just send ADF in.

Seems the conservative media now swinging to sydney can’t control it so they should open up. I definitely lean more to the right than the left on fiscal stuff but it Does my head in because it’s now an Australian decision and not a NSW decision in terms of the ramifications. from Day 1 I wanted a bipartisan approach and we need it now more than ever.

Just back from the weekly grocery shop, went alone, out for about an hour total.
Lost count of the number of families wandering about the shops, enjoying a day out, masks on chins.
People are just *smile* stupid, this is in Rowville.

On a positive finally manged to book first covid jab for next Wednesday.

Same in my area.

Is it just me or are tradies, council workers, building site workers all exempt from wearing masks? Stand around chatting to one another, in and out of houses, sitting in trucks and vans etc together, all with no masks on.
