Thought Coleman-Jones actually did better at centre bounces than Nank, especially in the third quarter. Actually hit the ball forward and not sideways or backwards.

Centre clearance & stoppage remains our biggest issue & has to be addressed given the 6-6-6 rule. Anything less than 50/50 break even is a fail going forward. We’ve perhaps underestimated Soldo’s absence as well - bigger & talker body than Nank and was important in late 2019 & early 2020 when Nank was injured.
Correct . Can’t be given the opposition team on a weekly basis first use of the ball
Ridiculous situation last night

This is what fixes our centre clearances. Ivan Soldo. Yeah I'd like a couple of pigs too.

Nank’s best work has always been done as an around the ground ruckman/follower rather than as a tap ruckman. He is great at following up post ruck contest but we do need a taller option in the middle. I thought CCJ did ok post halftime

Nank is like a ruck rover in many ways, which is a good thing. Coupling him with a bigger/taller ruck partner like Soldo or CCJ is the right way to go.

Not winning the tap doesn’t always have to mean clearances are lost as the midfielders can still read & negate it. However we’ve seemed slow to do this all season. That’s why it becomes so noticeable when we do have a ruck win a few taps, directs them well & we do win clearance.

I loved the look of disgust in Dimma’s eyes when he commented about the ‘uncontested play that the team was forced to play today’

You can tell he’s despises it.

And I loved watching North go to water when the Tiges took that style of play off the table in the 3rd qtr.
All very well for him to despise it but he has failed to recognise that the man standing on the mark rules have fundamentally changed the way the game must be played. With all the space created by taking away the movement options of the marker our chaos game has become a relic.
Dima needs to move on. Adapt.

Sorry but we had Nank , Cotchin . Shai , Edwards , Fridge Prestia all A Grade onballers and we were 10 zip on centre clearances last night . Not the players fault
This one's absolutely on the players.
Did Dimma somehow make them all stand with their backs to the umpire as the ball was bounced so they'd have no idea what was going on? Captain's in there with a whole bunch of highly experienced quality players n they got their pants pulled down n arses spanked. Maybe Dimma should have used Lynch as starting ruck n Dow, Raaaalph, Bakes, Moju as his mids.

Oh East Melbourne!
We need a genuine clearance specialist. I wasn’t overly keen initially but if the Tom Mitchell talk has any truth - I’m all for it. He won’t need to run around getting 40 disposals - but his first hand on the pill in the contest would make a big difference.

Loved him being grumpy & the way he stuck up for his players!
His crack at the crap umpiring & crap new rules & footy style that that Geesook bloke has left us with needed to be said!

Hardwick is totally focused on next week and getting our young players up and playing to our systems.

How they go in the last two roster games will determine and set the scene for next year.

Hardwick is not thinking about finals, particularly as it’s now out of our hands (Freo and Eagles keep winning then we have no chance).

Love to see how this new crop of youngsters go under finals pressure if they do get there.

Why should the coach be subjected to questions about what the commentators think? Don't hide behind Jonathan Brown's reputation - if you've got an observation or criticism of your own to make, then make it.
How about the moron asking about Toby Greene....should've said "Uh, wrong coach guys". Can't even turn off or silence their phones during a presser.

Looking for a headline like his comment about Marvel. Why didn't they ask about Brown's comment on the rule changes targeting Richmond?

So much media is worthless pap, including 98% of the post-matches.

yeah Dimma was super cranky.

what I wanna know is which journalist will take up the story of the AFL changing the rules to combat one team’s success.
Nah they'll just take up the story of the tigers whinging again

There needs to be more discussion about Brown's comments and we need a please explain from the AFL. Mincey needs to put this on his agenda but we know this won't happen.

The salary cap and the draft were introduced to provide an equal playing field but here we have the governing body bringing in rules to bring one particular team down.

Nahhhh! They'd been whinging n moaning about low scoring for years. All the new rules were specifically brought in to speed n open up the game to increase scoring. Not the AFL's fault we've got a bunch of hard running unskilled scrubbers that can't dispose of a footy properly or adapt to the minor tweaks.
AFL suits will happily swear it on a stack of bibles n SHockings comment was obviously just the ramblings of a very tired man under sustained pressure in a thankless task.
