Just watched Dimma's press conference.

Gee he's a good performer nowadays.

He put that dorky "journalist" in his place. "Sat him down" much like Stacky did to Viney a couple of years ago!!

Who was that idiot? Sounded like the little dweeb Tom Morris...................fcuking imbecile.
Got to love the double standards from the media...

The 'journo' in this case today is RFC traitor, John Ralph. However, the whole thing about this episode since the post-match last game is that, as pointed out by David King who defended Dimma at the time, he was misled into responding to a faulty question. I'm not sure but I think it was reporter A. Browne who wrongly posed the question to Dimma, reporting that Jono Brown suggested playing Lynch in the ruck to find some form. But JB NEVER actually said that, he only suggested moving him up the ground to find the ball.

So Dimma was deceived by an incorrect quote and JB was incorrectly quoted. It started there and old mate King, to his credit, pointed this out at the time. Saw it on an article posted on Fox not that long after last week's game. If JB was not mis-quoted - which is shoddy journalism as King pointed out - Dimma may have responded in much calmer fashion - Lynch has often played further up the ground when he/we are struggling.

See I don't think he is. All responding to a question like that does is tell the journos if they keep pushing it next time then he will probably snap and give them another week of content.

Dimma answered the question. Even handed him a ripper quote to run as a headline out of context

'Dimma wants opportunity to call Fox Commentator is a *smile* head'

.

then the journalist asks the same question again.

I get why journalist repeat a question that hasn't been answered,

but that was infuriating.

I thought Dimmas response was measures and reasonable

'would you like me to repeat the answer?'

bottom line is,

the players would really appreciate Dimma defending them unconditionally, and play hard for him.

and theres some incredibly dumb annoying footy 'journalists'.

Tom Brown wouldn't have any qualification, other than daddy running channel 9, would he?

That wasn't Morris or Ralph. I'm not sure who it was, but it was neither of those. Probably some no name, trying to make a name for himself.

Dimma is consistent , he’s always staunchly defended his players going right back to when Cotch was being flamed for his captaincy to more recently with Bolton and Rioli . My thoughts are he always seems to go one step too far. He could still make his point but leave out the line about dh. He could still make the point about marvel saying fans don’t like coming without going the extra mile and underlining he hates the joint . Be a little less animated , make your point , stay cool
I get a sense that there’s an undercurrent of frustration boiling over with dimma, perhaps he thinks the rules were bought in to spite our winning and proven game plan that had been formidable , there are plenty that do think that , brown himself said as much

Kellie Underwood tells a story about a Dennis Pagan presser she attended early in her career. He declared a particular topic off the table early on and Kellie thought she’d make a name for herself by broaching that very topic. Was brought up short by Dennis with ‘Are your ears painted on, Miss?’ The old days when a coach could put an impertinent journo right back in their box.

I flicked over the channel just before and footy classified was on. I haven’t watched it for a long time. Was going to switch over again when I heard Wilson mention something about Dimma and recent pattern of behaviour. I thought to myself here we go again, she can’t help herself having a go at him. They replayed some of his press conferences from I don’t know how far back plus the most recent one. She did defend him on certain points but still managed to get some digs in. Anyway, when she finished the others stuck up for him. Ed mentioned people having a go at him (Hardwick) about his personal life and he has a right to bite back. Now I may have misheard and I didn’t record it but I am positive I heard Wilson say nobody has had a go at him about his personal life. My jaw dropped and I wondered if I misheard her……

If she did say that I'd be astounded. I did stick up for her recently on the Clarko stuff, but the Hardwick stuff.....she'd be splitting hairs on. She might argue she was having a go at his professional credibility after his changes in personal circumstances...
She also argued whether it was appropriate to have head coach start a relationship with a staffer (me too type argument). Again, that's splitting hairs.

Yer, listened again to the questioner in today's pre-match. Thought it sounded like Ralph initially but on 2nd listening, probably someone else. And not sure who posed the original question to Dimma with the incorrect quote from J. Brown in last week's post-match, but it wasn't Tom Morris either, who was in the Fox studio with King.

Did you miss the bit when Eddie thought he'd throw his 2 cents worth in on the Tex Walker video apology? It was incredible television, and I don't mean in a good way. You have a tone deaf ex-journo come host with a racist past defending poor Tex with words like "exhausted" and "poor mental state"and comparing the stage managed scripted apology of poor Tex to speeches by Barack Obama. It was peak Ed

Probably because they pay 80% of their wages.
and in turn, we pay the broadcasters yes ?

Why cant they be held to account by us or coaches XY&Z

Your later point about coaching in England holds little weight really, whats DImma on say $800k to $1M

Jurgen is reportedly on about $20M
Pep is reportedly on about $40M

Anyone would cop *smile* for that !

What worries me about the media is they think people need to hear all the drivel ...
and in times of Covid, they think people need it more ...

I did miss that. Only saw the hardwick piece before I switched off. But from what you described, it sounds almost word for word the excuses Ed used during the Goodes/ King Kong saga

How does one catch sight of a tv program without watching it?
Watched a few episodes early, decided it wasn’t for me, and haven’t bothered since, but I’ve seen ads and occasional bits of it when flicking between channels. What little I’ve seen has convinced me that nothing has changed from those early shows.
