What are peoples thoughts on looking at someone like Sam Weideman?

Is he someone we should target as a succession plan to Jack?
Weideman looks like a one paced pony with no tricks. He might be better off trying to reinvent himself as a defender.

they are talking about a top 5 pick for 24yo who hasnt been able to get a game for the Dees, despite their talk forwards being a weakness? no thanks.

Not for me. Hopefully we can draft at least one KPF this year and have them develop in the magoos in 2022 and be ready to further develop at AFL level in 2023 and then step up the following year. We'll have Lynch and probably CJ there in the meantime. Balta and Martin could plug the gap as well.

I think you've nailed it, Tim. Worth considering as an Astbury replacement, for no more than a second-rounder though.

Well, Astbury gone and I think Houli will be too. Cotch/Jack 1 x more year left.
Interesting times. Will we go all out or look to rebuild? Think we will go a combo of both.

Top 5 pick for someone that can’t get a game
Not our fault they paid overs with their 9th draft pick

Talia reckons he has 4 more years in him! hehe.

He is as like for like for Dave Astbury as anyone. DTLD to replace DTLD?

If his body is ok and he's committed to a move to Melbourne, then we should consider it. We can't go into 2022 with just Balta as our only key tall defender. Having Talia (as with previously having Dave) allows the other defenders to play to their strengths.

I'm writing off Garthwaite as not up to it and by extension Miller, albeit he's never been tried.

Talia is originally from Melbourne, so I don't see that as a problem.

Like to get both Talia and Lynch from the crows

Talia as genuine back up for our defence now DTLD is hanging up his boots and Lynch just so we have two Tom Lynch's in the forward line to annoy the commentators

Given Dave's retirement, I'm not averse to taking him on for 2-3 years, until a junior is ready, subject to medical due diligence & clearance.

If he ticks all the boxes maybe 1-2 years, I think 3 is too many but hey I have NFI really
