WEEK 1 FINALS 2021

Toby arguably had another reportable offence that seems to have slipped off the radar.

Having watched the enhanced footage on Fox lastnight, both close up and from down the ground. ... I'm starting to think he's some (miniscule) sort of chance to get off. (I had to tune out of Brad Johnson's 3 to 4 week rant)

To begin with, Matt Stevic doesn't seem all that fazed by the interaction. .. mind you, had it been Razor he would've executed a perfect reverse double somersault as he reached for the book, giving him a detailed explanation whilst spinning. .. (degree of difficulty 9.7)

Regardless, he's a *smile* head for putting himself in that position. As much as I love him as a player, if he was ours it would do my head in knowing he's always a brain fart away from suspension!
The two narratives that Greene is hard done by and clumsy mummy are pretty bizarre.

Initially the vision looked like he walked straight through him but the slo-mo is more favourable. Stevic would know how much contact there was.
I thought he'd get a week at first but thinking just a fine now. Good for the Giant$. Not so good for Geelong.

.........................

Miniscule chance to get off????

From the video I saw (via the link posted earlier) - he's 100% certain to get off. Bugger all in it.

Stevic did not flinch, withdraw or respond at all, Id suggest very little if any contact

One of the luckiest wins you’ll ever see I reckon. That last quarter by the Giants was pathetic. They didn’t try to win; just hung on for grim death and got lucky that the Swans couldn’t kick straight. Whitfield is supposed to be a beautiful kick but turned it over straight to Swans players twice in last 5 minutes.
Game of chances in the 3rd Hogan kicks 2 goals and not posters it was probably game over they were on top and that would have put them 6 maybe 7 goals up. Certainly slowed down in the last

I'm not sure 'proper mental' is the right term, but i know someone who knew him as a school kid. From what i have heard i reckon there is a fair chance he has something diagnosable.

On first viewing i thought there had to be some reasonable explanation. But hearing his lack of excuse he is gone. Should be about 4 weeks.
I expect GWS will appeal, hopefully they can drag it out and he can play this week.
If the suggestions he didn't a actually touch Stevic are true i will retract my statement he should get 4 weeks. And offer my sincerest apologies to Greene.
My first para still stands though.

There's no way the Dees lose from here. They are scary now. Salary cap also in good shape so they have room to move.

All the important players are so young bar maybe Gawn. If they continue to get kissed on the *smile* with no injuries they are going to be tough to beat.

It's not up to Stevic and nor should it be.

Having seen the other footage it seems like there's not much in it though.
Stevic provides the evidence and then they decide. You can see there wasn't much in it. He does have the elbow one to explain though.

Port v Melb GF it will be. If its played at Optus Stadium I think the Dees will win, if at AO then Port.

How does Boringbane get to play the SF at the Gabba? I thought QLD was a no-go zone.

I reckon when the focus gets on to a particular footy based thing, ie Brisbane havent beaten Richmond for 10 years or Melbourne haven’t won at Kardinia park for 40 years or in today’s case Essendon haven’t won a final for 6203 days that the hoodoo breaks so I reckon Essendon will cause an upset today.

Just listening to Lachie Whitfield live on 3AW...

He's ...."not sure when they're eff-ing going to Perth"! ... classy

Stevic would only provide evidence if there was a penalty and GWS appealed. The MRP reviews the video and applies a penalty, or not.

Given that second angle no case to answer, unless they consider Toby walking through where Stevic would have been some form of misconduct. It will be a fine or nothing, and Stevic is unlikely to be involved.

Greene deserves at least a week. Stuff the fact he is a “marquee” player. The AFL has an obligation to the broader football community and especially junior footy to ensure that umpires are protected and Green was at the very least trying to show contempt toward - or more like trying to intimidate - the umpire.

Agree Ant.
Stevic over 400 games didn’t seem really to react apart from movement of his eyes.
Tobys interview after the game wasn’t great.
Today the media went pretty hard of Toby.
My favourite GWS player but actions such as these are not acceptable by any means. Toby should have gone around Stevic, kept himself under control and even other senior players should have made a line between him and the umpire.
The AFL want their ‘side’ to make a PF so I think he cops a fine BUT seriously if he cops a week’ he may cost GWS a shot in a PF.
