2021 Draft Thread

I've liked Ward since that Metro v Country game that he and Daicos dominated. More rounded player than Hobbs.

Moore's a great backman but has looked lost up forward. I think with Collingwood's scoring woes, if he had the ability to be a top forward we'd have seen it by now. They tried him there this year and it was an abject failure.

I'd still love him at the club, though.

Are you hearing this, or hoping this?
Pure speculation.

Josh Sinn is an interesting prospect. At the start of the year he was talked about being a potential number 1 pick. But now sits outside the top 10. By the looks it the lack of games due to injuries has put others ahead. But he does have an impressive CV. Randell talked him up recently on SEN.

Without seeing any of these kids play Erasmus seems like a much better fit than Sinn for our team. Stack and Rioli play their best footy off half-back. The last thing we need is a half back who "projects" to be a midfielder in time.

I dont want Sinn as a midfielder, I think his best spot is a line breaking half back and for me, I'd love him playing that role at RFC.

It was an inspired choice to try Daniel at HB, I am not sure its his long term position. I think Sydney has a lot of talent, I wonder about getting the best out of himself year in year out though.

We have the beauty with Stack of rolling him up forward.

Then there is the question of best available. Forget about where one plays but is Sinn the next best available at pick 7? I think thats where the likes of our recruiters will be thinking with our first pick.

Smoking, do you think we can get a deal done to get GC's pick 3 - and pick up Ward?
And keep pick 7 ?

Or will this mean giving up too much.

BTW, I am a massive Sinn fan, but only if he is best available - as you say - at whatever our pick is.
We still need mids above anything else in my opinion.

I don’t see any chance of getting pick 3 without giving 7 back in return. For this deal to happen you would have to assume it will also need CCJ requesting he joins GC.

We give GC CCJ and pick 7,

and get 3, 19 and 22?

now i know even ScoMo wouid be able to secure some crazy talk at this time of year,

but if your family overheard that trade delusion,

theyde call an ambulance.

your talking mega-trade. The kind of bounty you'de demand, and not get, for $hai or Noah.

your suggesting a duel premiership star price for a 0 premiership player, who could realistically go either way.
A little out of context there E.
I said the CJ trade would be for 19 and 22 and 'possibly' include the pick 7 upgrade-but I.d have to agree that it now looks a bit of a stretch.
If that is to occur would probably have to offer more. Maybe CJ for the upgrade and pick 19 is more realistic, or somewhere about there, or am I still way off?
They will be seeking talls imo.

For us to get pick 3 it would most likely be pick 3 & pick 22 for pick 7 & CCJ.
That rates CCJ as about a pick 9 by the Points index, I’m not sure whether his value is that high.
But the reality is it’s about the demand for a specific player type. Will they pay the premium? Points Index rating may become meaningless if they want him bad enough.

'Tis the season to dream large.

I reckon Aces suggestion is realistic best case scenario.

3 and 22 for CJ and 7.

I'd be pretty stoked with that.

I suspect, if you play the %, the points difference between 7 and 3 doesn't reflect the real difference some years.

having said all that, im pretty good at picking a selective couple of first round booms and busts, but I think im pretty ordinary at trading value speculation. Im no Dodoro, that's for sure.

I reckon a HBF'er is about the last thing we need? Plus I've never been into the concept of recruiting flankers. The mids whose tank dont develop occupy the flanks in my simplistic world.

I don't think CJ has proved he is even worth the pick 20 we drafted him at so some of the proposals on here a bit far fetched IMHO.

ruckmen are like Landcruisers. They get overs.

but I agree, even with the premium added, there's some wild dreams being articulated.

if he gets us a first rounder, I'll be stoked. If he stays, I'll be stoked.

The players I don't want at 7 are Mac Andrew,Hobbs,Gibcus, especially Mac Andrews whom is flashy and talented but don't work out generally .

I really can't see any point in using the first top 10 pick we've had in a while on a half back flanker - apart from the fact we have too many already, HBF is just not important enough to justify using such a high pick.

I am. If GC want a tall, we've got a top 20 pick who's now had 4 years in the system and shown ability as a forward relying on a B-grade midfield.

And if CJ's choosing to go to GC there's less go-home factor than with an untried 18 year old picked without consent.

I want CJ to stay, but if he goes then 3 and 22 for 7 and CJ is a minimum.

I’d bend down and kiss the earth if we landed Gibcus.
195cm rebounding KPDs are about the most highly rated players in the game.

There is a possibility I think.

The difference between 3 and 15 (in points terms) is 1122 points, but in reality its really pick 5 for 17 as its 99.9% certain that Daicos and Darcy will go before. That points difference is only 853 points (or about Pick 22 in value terms).

Its possible they see the value in that trade by getting CCJ back as the difference.

That may be the best bet for us. Pick 3 (5) for 15 (17) and CCJ. We then take picks 3 (5) and 7 (9) to the draft. 2 top 10's would be perfect for us.

I'd take Sinn at that point but if we only have 1 top 10 would prefer someone like Ward. 2 of Ward / Hobbs / Sinn would be very good for our 1st.
