Goodbye Mabior Chol

By all reports Chol is being offered $450K per year over 4 years; is that right? That will apparently see us get 3rd round compensation.

Also reports are saying Scumton is offering Hewett the same contract terms as Chol. Yes somehow that will get the Swans 2nd round compensation.................

Am I missing something here????

No, not missing anything...the Swans will get a better deal from the AFL than the tiges.

Well if that is the case, and the deals are the same, I would hope our club would protest long, loudly and publicly. We've already been screwed by Brando compensation.

For me it shows that GC are degenerate gamblers.

A very big leap of faith for that sort of money, especially when you look at the young stars they will need to pay a premium to keep over the next couple of years.

Could Mabs be our Trojan horse? Send him up there to gobble up cap then shake the tree next year.

I hope we don’t unsettle our mutually beneficial working relationship with Gold Coast when this happens.

But then again, a team like GC probably wouldn’t mind Mabs’ flaws as much as a team planning everything around ‘how to win a Grand Final’.

Another win/win exchange between the two clubs, hopefully.

Not sure what you'd be concerned about. This has nothing to do with us. They made him an offer and he took it. We had no say in it. We also have no say in the compensation that is given to us but rest assured it will be inadequate in comparison to other similar FA moves that happen; i.e. Hewett to Scumton.

I’m sure we‘ve been honest behind the scenes, but was just thinking if we’d oversold him to bump up our FA compo and them realising and regretting it later, but that probably didn’t happen.

But it's a FA scenario. We most likely wouldn't have even had a discussion with GC about him. There was no deal to be done between the two clubs.

Possibilities:

1. AFL is screwing Richmond on FA compo

2. The media is slightly misrepresenting the actual contract values to stir up Richmond fans to get clicks

3. Chol’s contract has more conditions that mean his contract is less of a commitment compared to the other guy’s if the other guy’s contract has less conditions

All 3 have precedence

Sydney will end up with comp pick 22 and Richmond pick 222

Apparently our recruiters do there best after pick 200, so all is good.
No they don't
They excel in 3rd and 4th round picks in the Rookie draft.
Your allowed to swap draft picks why can't we trade pick 7 and 15 for 5 picks the Rookie draft?
National draft Conca Ellis Higgins Coleman Jones
Rookie/preseason draft Castagna Bulter Lambert Grimes Grimes Soldo
