So many assumptions made here.
No evidence that he didn’t come back in great nick or that he’s lazy.
He may just be a *smile* endurance runner.
Let’s give him some space and freedom from speculation. Next season will tell you all you need to know.
Evidence really !!

3rd year at the club and considerably last 'Again'
Nobody doubting his talent but work ethic away from the club , I suppose ill wait until we see Stack trailing big Nank by 3 laps before i comment about his fitness again.

I've got high hopes for RCD next year, but I'd like to have seen a little more muscle definition by now. Even if he is more 'outside', he needs to be physically strong enough to compete.
Some players just dont get that definition unfortunately and its really not that important , Clayton Oliver is a great example

First way to early observation from one photo forty five minutes in, Kane Lambert looks HUGGGGGGEEEEEEE.

Syd has returned in ripping nick. Same with Jack Ross, looks slimmer. Midfield build. And RCD looks great.

Great sign Lynch and Nank out there. Still have hope that both can have A+ years in 22. I’m far too excited for November.
The penny may have finally dropped.... with selection committee.

There's pics of Baker with Teague. Baker fwd?

I am not concerned at this point, Syd has good body definition and seemed engaged in proceedings, if he can stay on the straight and narrow hopefully with eyes now on him his fitness can improve quickly.
Of course I would prefer to see him more advanced straight off the bat.
Many cheers for the reporting again, the Q re: Stack is how does he compare to other yrs? I don't expect him to be super fit in 1 pre season but improvement is key going fwd. As u said in the report running may just not be his go yet bring the Footy's out & he'll dominate. have heard the same re: Dusty in yrs gone by

Total BS. Considerably last in the 5th run. 4th run not great. First 3 right up there. They were 120 meter shuttle runs in sets of 3. It was intense stuff. So his 15th effort wasn't too great.

5 mins later, MRJ can't run and Stacky is still going strong so he paced himself to a degree.

A quote attributable to Cotch last year when he was doing clearance drills at training against Riley was that he couldn't believe how strong he was and couldn't move him off the ball. Strength not an issue IMO.

Nice to hear. And the Clayton Oliver comparison might be a good one.

It was a high pressure running session no doubt so that was what we had to report on and be honest in our opinion on results.
As I said Syd looked great with the cut of his jib but HK has rated his running efforts higher than myself.
Junior not a high bar to compare as he was a reasonable way 2nd last.
*Note: It was where I expected them to place but hoping they where a bit closer to the pack that's all.
First session back so no drama.
Still plenty to look forward to.

So not exactly a sign that Stack is lazy then! Or unfit.
Could it be that he’s simply a poor endurance runner? Like a lot of the indigenous boys?
Unfortunately some on here misinterpret your reporting and next thing you read is that the player has spent the last 8 weeks eating KFC on the couch.
Stacky will probably feature in the bottom quarter of running drills for the rest of his career.
To go along with his half a dozen AA blazers

Agree on this, and I have formed no negative opinion on what Syd has done in the off-season, I have said he looked ripped.
That is different to last year and I won't revisit those negatives.

I mentioned at the end of the session yesterday Syd was 3rd last off the track putting in some extra run-throughs.

To further my case in point, they must have had another smaller training session this morning, as I went past PRO other players were all heading in except for Syd, MRJ & Cumberland.

Up on the Scoreboard was the drill: "INDIVIDUAL NEEDS"

As I crossed the road Syd was initially running laps on his own, had a pause and was then joined by MRJ & Cumberland for further laps. At one point Peter Burge paced Stacky and then turned his attention to MRJ.

I reckoned I counted 7 or 8 laps for Syd all up.

So yes people should stop viewing my comments on Syd & MRJ's running results as being overly negative but an area that the Club, myself and the boys themselves know they have to work on and early doors that is what I am seeing.

The Sydney Stack I would like to see is the one that had 22 possessions to half time playing inside mid out at Windy Hill before doing his ankle, but that was a couple of years ago, (That's the pipedream anyway).

Thanks for the insight. Super important player for us if he gets it right.

Caesar, definitely not having a go at you. And yes I'm an optimist. I went and watched the shuttle runs from next to the entrance to the Tiger Den and watched Broady, Hugo, RCD and Stacky closely. It appeared that MRJ pushed himself through all 5 sets. (The cramps 5 mins later support that.) Stackman cruised sets 4 and 5 but then looked good in the very next drill with ball in hand. Maybe he just paced himself knowing it was a 2.5 hour session. And then did some catch up work.

But will agree. He looked fit and trim.

Kane however looked ripped.
