The main reason for the ridiculous posting I imagine is TBR wanting to show Dusty that he has his back. There can be no other reason. Stupid at best. Thread should be closed, it’s embarrassing.

3pm this Friday - Fox Footy Legends: Bartlett

Good reminder to a few and an opportunity for those that never saw KB.

Unless he stunk, one thing I always find amazing when watching KB is his elusiveness. Barely got caught.

If we're quoting journo's TBR:

In Sheahan's top 100 of all time Hungry was number 9.

In 2016 The Age did a top 20 finals players from the past 50 years. Hungry was a runaway number 1.

On that evidence (same as what you plucked) he is a great of the game and up there with any.

My 3 top Richmond players that I have seen play.
3. Martin
2. KB
1. Richo
eq 1 Hart
eq 1 Martin
3. Bartlett

Can't split Royce and Dusty. Royce does lose out because his career was stuffed by his knees and he was physically gone at 26. He was a key forward and those guys don't win awards as much as the midfielders. I reckon Royce won as many games off his own boot as Dusty has but in the end Dusty may well get him with longevity.

One thing we forget about Dusty is that earlier in his career he was known for brilliance but faded a lot in the 2nd half of games. He was always good/great but it wasn't until he was really fit that he gained the consistency in games and in a season to be considered absolutely elite.

Waddler?

I promise I'll try and watch.

Coincidentally I was given a book today written by famous footy journo Alf Brown, where he picked his best team from his time working in footy, which was mid 40s to 1980.

Bartlett didn't make that side either, but he was in the Richmond one obviously.

That's where I am coming from, plain and simple. Yes, I openly admit I despise him and if I found myself face to face with him would like to think I'd give him a smack in the mouth, but that is of no influence here.

I just think saying he is a better player than Dustin is just nonsense. Martin is in the best of the best, Bartlett is at least a notch or two below that.

I've never heard Bartlett talked about as being potentially the best player ever to play, or playing the best season of all time, or being grouped with the absolute best of the best, nor did he make the team of the century.

Even in discussions about Richmond's hierarchy I've heard Dustin v Royce Hart more often than Bartlett.

Personal feelings aside I just don't see any evidence to suggest Bartlett is in the absolute best of the best, real top handful of players ever, the way Dustin is. Which by the way doesn't mean that he wasn't an excellent player.
What has he done to you BR to warrant such vitriol?
Wonder why you despise him and want to smack him in the mouth?
I don't know him at all and never met him personally, so my attitude to him is based on his 400+ games of sheer excellence.

I've been lucky enough to have met KB a few times & each time I've been more than impressed as to how he's interacted with, not only me but everyone else around him. He's never once been dismissive or acted high & mighty.
My daughter has interacted with him in work situations & he's always been easy to deal with & good humored, mind you he also wouldn't take any crap either, which is fair enough.

As I've said before on this thread, I count myself very lucky to have seen both KB & Dusty in my lifetime. Not to mention Blokes like Hart, Bourke, Barrott, Green, Weightman, Wiley, Clay, Cotchin etc. The list is almost endless, so many great players. What a privilege for us.

TBR, you're entitled to your opinion, but your comment about KB not being fit to "carry Dustys boots" I find laughable, I doubt that you saw him play, I did (many, many times) he was an out & out CHAMPION in every sense of the word & proved it in over 400 games for the Tigers + many Interstate games.
Dusty is also an absolute CHAMPION there's no doubt about that either, I'm just rapt that I've been lucky enough to have seen them both.
Bravo, TT33
I share your sentiments.
So many great champion players have worn the mighty Yellow and Black, through thick and thin.
KB was a champion for Richmond. Dusty is a champion for Richmond.
Imagine both in the same side ... plus a bit of Royce Hart, and the Tiger faithful would be roaring.
#29 and #4 at RFC are legendary numbers

He didn't get many chances to shine, but Knighta's performance in the 95 final against Essendon is just about the best induvidual finals performance that I've seen.

So you are saying you would take pride in smacking a RFC Legend (and an old fella) in the mouth???
Seriously .....

What's the deal with advocating violence on this site!!??
