Talking Politics

The *smile* show has just begun ,it will be a circus,,it's time to get rid of preferences .
Preferences working as intended. It means politicians need to appeal to a broader spectrum of the electorate or they lose. It also makes every vote count.

sitting on the board of The Minerals Council, or a Bank, or just prostitute her address book as a lobbyist 4 hire

for $1m/year

Good election though; Liberals got their arse kicked; Labor didn't get their arse licked; Greens will turbocharge climate policy and ICAC

and Palmer blew $100m

the only way it could have gone better, was if Dutton and Joyce lost.
Turbo charge climate policy lolol,,,lets see how much difference these clowns make.
The great thing thing about this election,is people will finally realize, that the greens/independents are a joke.
How easy is it to get a 200k a year job, just say you are going to change the climate:rolleyes:

Oh l will be waiting for the fairy godmother from China to appear ,because Albo and Andrews won't be able to do *smile* without them .

As a regional person I hope with what has happened with the Greens and the Teal’s getting in that they get their fair share of community housing and skin in the game regarding the necessary changes we have to make for the environment. The extra wind farms, solar farms are going to be regional as they have to be. But the extra housing and the higher density needed needs to be more targeted to the elites. It’s what they have voted for.

It would seem to me that based on the ABC’s election coverage and their numbers in respect of seats still in doubt, that a majority Labor government is still a distinct possibility.

The biggest problem with preferences is allows parties with very little policies or any real substance a leg up.
The primary vote the Libs have more than Labor,we need to remove preferences so that each seat the MAJORITY vote for is elected .

Is this the only country in the world ,were the party who gets the most votes don't win.
Is that a question? The answer is no. Nowhere near it. Happens just as much as not. 2 of the last 5 US Presidential elections have been won by the candidate with a significantly lower primary vote. Google it, heaps of examples.

Agree to disagree. Would just entrench the duopoly we suffer.

Hello Scott Morrison and welcome to Punt Road End - it's time to enjoy your retirement! Just don't wet your pants at the footy like you did at that Sharks game in Sydney. Or sh1t your pants like you did at that Maccas in Engadine.

Yeah, looking likely I reckon. I would have preferred a minority ALP government but LNP out, Josh & Tim out, it's all good.

Josh still not conceding and happy to remind the people that ScuMo has taken responsibility for the loss.

Fraudenberg making a fool of himself.

Just concede mate. You’re displaying all the traits of an ex senior LNP minister and why you were all voted out in the first place.

All those millions Josh. All those millions….

The rednecks of Australia, tho saddened by the loss of power will surely rejoice that all their main men, ie Dutton, Joyce and that complete *smile* wit Canavan live on to fight the good fight.

His speech last night was a shocker, went on and on about how great he is and how he's been cheated out of what is rightfully his. Other coalition honchos were saying the same, Birmingham on the ABC, the ex-PM, we are fantastic and have been wronged.

This mob routinely break long-standing political conventions. The convention is we did our best, we'll learn from the result, congrats to the winner. Not for this mob. Rave on and on about how great they've been and cheated by others who have gamed the system. Birmingham basically said there is something wrong with the system if the Libs are losing.

There would be very few seats where a candidate got the majority (> 50%) of primary votes.
The primary votes for both Labor and the Libs nationally is less than 40%, so no majority for either.
This is where preferences decide.
If you want to get rid of preferences, then you really need to get rid of minor parties and have a two party system to ensure a primary vote majority in all seats.
That’s not very democratic

yep, we'll be able to bulk-bill the monkeypox pills,

,the apocalypse evacuation palliative attendants will be on $23/hr

and we'll be able to blame black fellas voice in parliament.

happy days
Can you buy an extra shotgun for me?

Good chance the Treasurer for NSW will see it as his way back into leadership of the Lib/Nationals/UAP/PHON Party
If they're smart they should get Matt Kean to resign from NSW parliament so he can lead the regeneration of a return to small-l Liberals. But they aren't so they won't.

Wilson is a disgrace. A total loser and symptomatic of a backward, divisive and chronically out of touch LNP. A bottom feeder.
Yeah, but you have to give him credit for what he's done for equality, showing that yes, gay men can be absolute c*nts too.

The longer they refuse to learn, the longer they'll be in the wilderness. Ten years. At least. Good riddance.
