I think they are grooming him as key forward/ 2nd ruck.
So that would have made him, CCJ and Chol fighting for the same position. Seemed superfluous to our needs at the time.
As it turns out, they’ve both left the building and yet Ryan is looking no closer to locking down that position or even pinch hitting in the seniors.

Still scratching my head about his recruitment.
Why spend 5 years developing such a very raw prospect and have him stuck behind so many others. Even CCJ and Chol were in front of him at the time.
It’s also not really clear what position he actually is best suited for. Forward/Back up ruck?
Cholly was at our club for a long time and still very inconsistent don’t forget Ryan was a project a late pick.

Our youngest 22

Mansell Gibcus. Nyuon
Stack. Miller. Brown
Banks CollierD. Ralphsmith
Bolton Balta graham
Baker. Ryan. moz
Colina Ross Dow
Banks. Cumberland Sonsie Martyn
Good posting, TFan. This team might well beat Norf and current Weagles or at least be quite competitive. It's encouraging.

Geez, some early calls here.

He's a 21 y.o 206cm tall.

Progressing bloody well in his 2nd year who has just had a 15 possession, 5 tackle 44 hitout match and took the honours against Makaj Daw.

We've asked him to ruck solo and despite being out of petrol tickets in matches he continues to give his all.

Tracking ahead of expectations for Leysy. Heaps to work with.

Ryan was actually our first pick in his 2020 draft.
I’m asking why take a project forward ruck when we already had 2 project forward rucks at the time.
Two things to consider I suppose.
1. Not muck quality available after pick 40.
2. Except for MRJ taken at pick 54. Makes up for any misgivings about our choices in that draft.

Also Nank has what 3 maybe 4 years left. Perfect timing for Samson if he continues to develop.

You think Ryan is potentially a pure ruckman or forward/back up ruckman long term?
Will be interesting to see how they use him once Colina arrives

Tracking nicely with plenty of improvement to come. Once he fully grows into himself and learns to command his space he'll be a very difficult match-up. 206cm, moves and kicks extremely well. Marking confidence the next step for him. Rucking is teaching him that he is and has to be a big man. No Beanie-ing it roving forward packs for someone called Samson. He has potential as a forward and a ruck. Forward comes more naturally but he's not shirking the rucking.

He's always looked more likely to be a forward than ruck to me. Needs some more development but I reckon forward with some ruck responsibilities when the ball is in our forward 50 and he could be a very good player.

Suggest the model is Gawn. Ultra athletic hyper tall. Will take years to fruit. But as the outlaw ghost said we're going learn him the ruck game.
He is a project in a sense that he's a high reward type

Jack and lynch are a fair bit older than soldo.
So Ryan is more helpful to us as a forward.

Either way he has a few years of development. Gawn took many years as he slowly built core strength and endurance. Lets give Samson the same

At 21yo rucked pretty much solo against Sinclair, Amarty and 210cm McAndrew on the weekend. Was not beaten.

Came to us game and smart. Rare qualities in a ruck.

I think we have to play him.

Interesting.

I like Ryan. I'll like him better when he stands up straight and owns his space. That looks a couple of years off, but he's mobile and has forward craft.

Swans report- Joel Amartey also had a big influence with 18 disposals, six tackles and four clearances

and presume you mean big Brock McLean, not mcandrew
