Lots of non Tasmanians making assessments on whether Tasmanians will go to games in the winter. If they hadn't for the past 100 years then it wouldn't be a football state. People adapt to the climate they live in.

How do you think ratings will be in 10 years when the JackJumpers and a Tassie A-League team are dominating both young talent/media/viewers.
With the JackJumpers my mates from the North West are all completely engaged (along with their kids) and go to every second game in Hobart.
That's when they can get tickets of course. As they sell out!!

Exactly. You have inadvertently made a good point why Tasmania should have a team.
As you know draftees from Tas have dropped like a stone. From 1986-100 it had circa 10% of all draftees.
It is now 1.4%.
You can bet London to a Brick that will do a U-Turn with it's own team. Kids will have it's own local heroes, media will be all over them, money will flow to junior football pathways etc.
Read between the lines with the AFL. The possibly only thing Gil does well is negotiate. Especially with Governments.
He is stalling to get a better deal on that front. Plain to see.
Cmon Nobets. Stop being so ridiculous. There are generations of Tasmanian families wedded onto VFL-AFL teams over the last 100 plus years. Even with the significant degradation of Australian Rules in Tasmania over the last 30 years. Hawthorn alone has over 10,000 members in Tasmania.
And the Jackjumpers - a new phenomenon- are going to change all of that are they ? Sold out ? All 4,000 tickets. You need to sell out 25,000 for an AFL team Nobets. Cmon. The Jackjumpers are 2 bad seasons away from being the Tassie Devils and you know it.
There was an article in The Mercury about the northern dissent towards funding of a new stadium in Hobart when Gutwein first started spruiking it. Look it up.
Nobets, as I said to Snakes, you need to draft and build a team from all over the country. Not just your local domain. Again, you know that. Yes, a re vitalised football industry and academy will help but you need players from all over the nation and you need to KEEP them.
And finally, we must have different mates back there Nobets. Most of my mates are members of Victorian AFL clubs and were insulted when I asked them who they’d follow, support and be a member of if Tasmania got a team.

And you still haven’t answered my question: where’s the funding for a new or re vamped stadium coming from ? Nobody in Tasmania has proffered that yet.
And don’t tell me that an un re vamped Blundstone or York Park fits the bill either Nobets just because they’re already playing there. That’d be silly. They’re only holding infrequent boutique games like Manuka is. You need a proper stadium with proper facilities for a home based AFL club that holds 25,000 minimum for its home based supporters to attend. Bellerive and York Park currently only cater to North Melbourne and Hawthorn fans - not an entire state following its home team. Otherwise you’re pretty much admitting it’s only gonna get small crowds.
