Game Day - Geelong V Richmond

We get 17 points up in last and we get the next clearance. M Rioli gets ball on forward flank and has nank and short open. He misses the kick just slightly and Nank and Short mess it up. It falls to ground and Nank doesn’t bend to pick up to handpass to short but kicks it off the ground. Geelong get the loose ball and race it down other end for goal.
That turned the momentum.
We couldn’t buy a free in front of goal. Twice in the 3rd Baker could have got a high one in front of goal. They get a gift to Miers.
We don’t get the 50 for push after mark they do. Hawkins moves on mark not once but twice no 50.

Watched the replay until last 10 minutes can’t watch the rest. A less deserving victory I can’t recall.

Reminds me of 2017 when we lost a succession of close ones where we were robbed. Let’s home the climax is the same.
We don’t get free kicks.

This football club has to get in the finals. And if it does, it just has to exact its revenge on the AFL, teams like Geelong, the media etc who all desperately want us to fail.

There’s a lot for us to play for this year. It’s us v the world. Cmon Richmond….

Yeh I’m waiting for TBR to go through and sign off on them. He will probably find a few ones missed for the cats.
Some advice - just ignore The Big Recalcitrant‘s droppings.
If you react - he wins.

Agree.
Haven't seen one bit of game (work)
But my workmate and i listened.
On radio, when 11 then 17 up they said there was no way we could lose and would be a 5 goal win.

They were shocked that we stopped the last 8mins.

But as others have said, out of gas.
We were beating the Pussies then the umps came back into the game with the easy frees and killed our momentum

Yep that’s we’re we are screwed over the most by them. Like the loss to Adelaide, we have all the momentum and running over them, then bang 13 frees to none, momentum halted.

Spot on. This passage of play with the missed kicked to Nank did my head in.
Also said to my mate, at 17pts (despite it being early) we had to kill some time.

We cant win the flag from outside the top 4.
And I cant see us making the 4 - the umps will ream us again against the Suns and against Freo/Port.

That act /other acts intended to take our player (s) out, knew it would be a double win. The game. Plus their biggest potential challenger trying to win finals from outside the Top 4.

Just watched Dimma's presser. Gotta say I'm a little disappointed. I get the whole diplomacy and grace in defeat angle. But you know what? *smile* it. I don't care. Even though I think we still should have won from 17 points up in last quarter, we were *smile* robbed tonight. A Geelong player illegaly and arguably deliberately took out our best player in the first quarter. Not too mention he was out of it for 3 minutes on the ground and they didn't stop play and Geelong kicked a goal. And we lost by 3 points. If that is not a travesty of justice I don't know what is. Not to mention the *smile* cheating umpiring again!! Dimma should have been more direct about it. *smile* the fine. The club is loaded and he earns $800K a year. Bloody hell I'm sure many of us would chip in.

I'm *smile* sick of the AFL treating us like dog *smile*. We need to stand up to these cheats. Also, I don't recall too many of our players remonstrating with Stewart; disappointing. If we play them in a GF he needs to be targeted; 80s style. I don't know what happened after the game as I left the room in anger, disgust and frustration. But I would have liked to have seen our players rough him up after siren and or refuse to shake his hand. He maimed our best player and it cost us the game.
Dimma's already been bent over n reamed for complaining about the umpiring, the rules, Marvelarse stadium n the soft cap this year. Meedjia wil be more than happy to bend him over n ream him some more if he bothers to say anything beyond the normal AFL corporate gibber.

The control for stopping the game is actually with the medical staff (unless the ball is about to be in play near them). If you have a serious injury requiring the stretcher you signal to the bench who inform the emergency umpire who informs the umpires on field.

Unless you do that the umpires are never going to stop the game. Using the stretcher is heavily policed to stop it being tactical however and it is a necessity use only which is why you often see a player with a significant leg injury have to be assisted to hobble from one side of the ground to the bench on the other, even though there is no way they will take any further part in the game.
Player gets obviously knocked out n doesn't move should automatically be a wheelie bin job, necessity use only my arse.
Agree with something like leg injuries as they're an injury that needs often needs assessment and players often return to the field after treatment. Completely different situation when the head is a sacred site ( according to Gilligan n his mates ) and the bloody thing has obviously been caved in.

I'm certain they didn't because once you call for the stretcher it has to be used, it's part of the rules so there can't be a oh hang on he's better type use of it to slow the game down . Assuming he was conscious and able to stand then they will always walk him off.
So what if the stretcher " has " to be used? Once it's called for the game is stopped n it's a simple time on situation. There's no delaying factor. A player can be brought back into a game later if the stretcher is called for but the injury isn't as severe as first thought.
There's no way known that a player who's so obviously knocked unconscious as Prestygiocomo was is going to be permitted to re- enter the game due to the concussion protocols n scrutiny on the medico's, so why the hell walk him off instead of using the chauffeur.

When was the last time a stretcher or golf cart was used to get an injured player off the ground?
Actually, I have no idea btoz and maybe its the "Yank in me" that thinks we even have them in the AFL ? Having also lived in America for over 20 years and watched the NFL for many many years, the Golf Cart is never OFF the field it seems in that game.

That rule needs some looking at if thats the case, Dill and his Dipshites talk about "Player Welfare & Safety" these days like its the No.1 issue in the game, if so, an incident like yesterday's should never been seen on a Football field again.

Stop the game, get the injured player off the field ASAP for treatment and assessment, surely that can be organised quickly and safely with the aid of a motorized vehicle over a guerney/stretcher I would think.

I hope this shattering loss galvanises this team like nothing else and spurs them to great heights for the rest of the season. Apart from our best player being illegally taken out of the game, this loss was eerily similar to the Eagles loss last year. Had a good lead in the last quarter and blew it. Dodgy umpiring decisions played a factor; Stengle kicked a goal after marking a pass that went no more than 12 metres; as did Kennedy last year.

We completely disintegrated after that Eagles loss. We were actually going okay at the time and no one saw it coming; 7-5 win loss after the Eagles loss. Now we are 8-6 and really should be 10-4 at worst. I feel we are in a good spot but with our best players older and the continual injury struggles there are question marks.

But if we can regroup and forge on we can do some real damage. We just have to stay fit; injuries will really hurt us with the composition of the team now.

We’ve had the golf carts before in the AFL to take injured player off the ground
just can’t remember the last time I saw one

I don’t know that we’ll even make the 8, but if there was any year that any team in the 8 could win the flag, it’s this year.

Cotchin out, injured.
Lambert out, body worn out.
Dusty playing at half rat power.
Shedda playing at qtr rat power.
Prestygiocomo wiped out first qtr.

Tigers come back from 6 goals down n almost pinch the game with virtually no midfield, just an amazing performance by the team. Off to watch the ressies on t.v. n see who wants a run in the seniors next week.

this is the first time I have not calmed down overnight, I'm still freaking furious over everything from last night. Geelong clearly targeted us with in 2020 and in this game, & Chris Scott is a disingenuous liar. The umpiring and uneven application of rules is disgraceful. I usually enjoy listening to the Sunday radio footy shows, I just cannot, the injustice is strong and overflowing. If we don't Laurie Fowler/Neil Balme them next time I will be very disappointed.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen PRE more outraged. Jumped on the vfl thread and the anger is palpable.
