Well done Jack. Hopefully that gives him some belief. He stays in the team next week whether Cotch is back or not. We need more players who can rotate through the midfield not less.

Without wanting to tempt fate we should probably give Cotch another week off to ensure he is right for the tougher games to come. Don't want to take the eagles lightly but we should be handling them comfortably at the G.

Good on Ross, he's been in and out of the team since one of his early games and possibly his promising debut against Port a couple years back.

Seems to have a good attitude and is hard working, this can trump elite talent that doesn't put in the hard yards.

He's been playing very good footy in the VFL this year whilst RCD and Dow seem to have lost some confidence and taken a step back.

Good on him.

Yep, people wrote the kid off here too early. He's still young and is developing nicely.

I get that he's been played out of position due to the preeminence of Cotch/Prestia in the midfield, but he's really showing he could be a pretty fair replacement for Cotch if he does make this his last season.

would have capped off a great performance if he stuck that final tackle. Otherwise he matched the geelong big bodied mids quite well.

The other thing they showed on one of the footy shows was when Cameron went to the middle for a centre bounce in the last qtr. Ross was his opponent. We got the ball forward but they showed vision of Cameron losing Ross in the midfield. Geelong turned the ball over in our forward line and they raced the ball down the other end for Cameron to kick a goal from the goal square (handpass over the toop of Grimes). Ross didn't track him until too late. Cameron rolled the dice and left Ross alone at the tiger CHF area but Ross probably shoud have played more defensively at that point.

But he did some good things in the game, one of the best I've seen him play.

Wrapped for Jack, he's been in and out of the side, and been the sub a couple of times.
What pleased me the most was his ball use, has been a bit of a knock, but he used it well on Saturday.

Keep persevering with Jack and stop meddling with using him in different positions. Did more than OK on Saturday and showed his worth time and again

Don’t know about leaving him in one position. He now has a bit of versatility to his game.

I like that we are developing players that can be swung into different positions when the need arises.

What a luxury to have multi position players like Balta, Rioli, Baker, Edwards, Martin and now maybe Gibcus that can be moved around the ground.

Sorry kids to ruin the party. As good as Jack was there were some incidents that are delist material. The one when he allows Stengle to waltz away from the ball up and Stengle kicks the goal and the worse one in the last centre bounce, his efforts to tackle Atkins was shitt house, for some reason he was on his knees.

I thought Jack Ross had a career-best game. Sure, we'd like some tackles and some pressure acts but moving from a wing to midfield is a very big step.

Comparisons to Trent Cotchin are brutally unfair.

He is not a winger, too slow, not the best ball user. Much much much better game as traditional centerman who ran up and down all game. Had 9 contested possessions (only behind Baker and Nank) and 16 uncontested possessions (5th most for Richmond on Saturday), 7 ground ball gets (only behind baker).

Now he needs to string a few in a row. Having him play well hopefully gives Lambert some time to recover for a few more Richmond games.

Haha geez a bit harsh zigs. You would be delisting a few on that criteria… baker lost Atkins at the bounce… Rioli was 5m off Stengle who waltzed through CHF… Vlastuin lost Henry and let him go up uncontested…and if Henry didn’t mark it - Cameron would’ve as grimes was about 10m behind him after deciding to go to the Contest and not stay with him.

Out coached in that passage of play.
With 2 minutes to play we should have had Soldo at the centre bounce and Nankervis the spare in defence to protect the lead.
