Geez Sampilands debut was 15 months ago.

Would have thought irrrelevant now considering how much the great man has developed.

People also seem to forget the weather that night. Was a horrible night, was a poor decision by Dimma to debut him on that night, threw him to the wolves.

No back up to Nank makes me very nervous. I assume we will have to trade in a cheapie or look for a mature ager
Miller showed good signs late in the season and we can go back to 2017 Grigga plan with a small or no ruck when looking back at what Lachie Neale did to us in the EF by feeding off the oppo ruck.

Exactly, in the EF we had more hit outs, and what good did that do? We need players who can feed off either ruck, ours or the oppo. At the moment it is the midfield clearances we need and the biggest deficiency is our mids getting the ball.

I don't want to see Soldo go but we have to weigh up the benefit of bringing in a player who fills a gaping need against losing a player we're not sure is best 22.

The reality about Soldo is that he has improved however I still see limitations in the way he moves and doesn't have that flexibility that Miller showed this season. Still sad to see him go, but it's business time and we must progress.

The biggest concern I now have with Ryan is that Leysy is pumping him up bearing in mind his last two great hopes were Meyer and Collins.

I get that Leysy....but Sampilands' career stats still sit at 1 game, 0 disposals, 1 hitout and 1 free kick against. He was raw, the weather didn't suit and he has shown development in the VFL. But I still maintain that is the worst debut of all time and he is no walk up start as an AFL player

Yeah the legend of Samson Ryan seems to be taking on McBean like proportions.

I'm likely suffering recency bias but Will Martyn's was worse IMO despite the obvious difference in stats.

His was bad bur not worse IMO. At least he touched the footy. Fantasy points not rhe best guide but Martyn 26 v Sampilands -2 (yes that's a negative contribution)

Yeah including Soldo in the trade for Hopper may help get the deal done but leaves us very exposed if and when Nank is not playing.
Yet Grundy will destroy the fabric of the team apparently.

I’m not happy we may be losing Soldo , pick 31 and future 1st.

Think that is too much on top of our 12 & 19 for Taranto.

I want to keep the rest of our picks this year. Pick 31 May still bring us a player ( list need ) and develop him in the twos in season 2023.

I’m concerned with Captain Nanks body and really with only Soldo as back up I can real issues in our ruck stocks.

Samson isn’t ready and Miller is just a pinch hit who did quite well towards the end of the year. But I want Miller to continue his development in the back half and take ruck duties there!

With the AFL considering 5 on the interchange a ruck on there is paramount in having a ruck on the bench.

Future first and that’s it!
We have already in good faith to give you 12 & 19 for Taranto. You have salary cap issues , his contracted ( so we take his full salary) so that’s it!

We don’t know if GWS have asked for Soldo or Soldo has requested to go there or WE have offered him up.

Isn’t he contracted?

Also it’s a snowball affect to our VFL side if we lose Soldo to GWS & Nank gets injured.

Do we find a kid with years developing in other leagues or other VFL sides. Look , have a back up thought before you put Soldo on the table.

How will think affect relationships with Balta and Marie if the Tigers PUT UP Soldo as part of getting an injured Hopper over????

Just my thoughts!

I don't believe we should get Grundy; much rather Hopper and Taranto. I would also rather keep Soldo but it appears he will be part of the price we pay to get Hopper. If that eventuates I hope there is a suitable plan for support when Nank is not playing. I'm not sure Miller and Samson are a suitable plan at this stage.
