In terms of public hospital funding 45% comes from the feds.Sin will correct me if wrong but health is mainly federally funded. Victoria has been stiffed on funding for years. The federal Libs like Victoria about as much as the AFL likes Richmond.
FMD. So sorry you got your panties in a bunch over a simple hang *smile* comment. He's still alive, still fully mobile n functional so is thoroughly deserving of a rib poke for going arse up on a six inch step. Maybe next time he'll keep an eye on where his feet are going n avoid falling down.TM this is a garbage post.
I can tell you for a fact he was very badly injured. He is bloody lucky he is not in a wheelchair
The Federal Government need to open up more places at university for training of our medical professionals. Also we need to lower the Atar score slightly for regional and rural students who make commitments (sign contracts), upon study and placement that they move back to regional areas. Based on the election promises the Libs will be building more hospitals, but where are the staff to fill them?In terms of public hospital funding 45% comes from the feds.
There are lots of others things in “health funding”. Medicare, aged care, ambulances, pharmaceuticals (PBS).
But in terms of public hospitals it is 55% state and 45% feds.
In regard to victoria being short changed by the feds the issue is that some of how the size of the “cake” is calculated before the 45/55 is done can be opaque and there are always arguments about it. 8-9 years ago I saw a letter from David Davis as health minister to Tanya Pliversek as federal health minister which was almost word for word the same complaint martin foley sent to Greg Hunt last year.
There is a pricing formula that all states sign up to which is the same for all. In my view there is an argument that all the states are being short changed but I don’t believe Victoria is singled out.
So as an ALP voter/greens voter for having no consequence for concentration of all power via himself with 90 staff. How do you keep Andrews accountable?Anyway, I don't think anyone here will disagree that the way Dan Andrews concentrates power in himself and his office is not good, but he is the lesser of 2 evils and anyway I'd never vote for the tories.

It’s not just the federal government holding back the numbers . The numbers of specialists that get trained is largely controlled by the medical colleges. The Federal Government need to open up more places at university for training of our medical professionals. And if the Greens hold balance of power the public servants will get their 4 day week so we will need even more staff again.
Branch stacking was done by both sides and that has been acknowledged within the ALP. So which socialist left members have been sacked or removed from the party?I'm not gonna comment on the media reporting in recent days except to say that this is gonna backfire on them badly.
Lets talk about one of the so-called IBAC investigations to provide an example of how the media works here.
- 60 minutes does report on branch stacking by VIC Labor.
- Andrews sacks the person responsible the next day (Somyurek).
- Andrews refers Somyurek to IBAC.
- Somyurek has a vendetta against Andrews after being sacked and referred to IBAC. Murdoch and Costello support an alleged corrupt politician that’s out to get Andrews by giving him a voice.
- Andrews appears at IBAC, as he was the reporting person. Media twist it to make it look like Andrews is under investigation.
- Dan critics froth at the mouth.
Well more government funding needs to be given to those colleges that train more GP’s. They need to also be given bonuses for training more medical people for where their is the highest demand. It’s not just the federal government holding back the numbers . If I was cynical I might suggest it is in their interest to keep numbers as low as possible given the laws of supply and demand.

The one thing the medical colleges don't need is more funding. What needs to happen is that we have stop allowing the fox to control the hen house.Well more government funding needs to be given to those colleges that train more GP’s. BingoI suspect the only people who could have an impact on Dan concentrating power in his own office are the ALP caucus but, like all the other political parties, the leader who wins elections gets away with murder.
Who would know, it's not like a "leader" needs to tell the public, or even the ministers involved.Has Dan apppointed himself any co-ministries?
According to some people on Twitter he runs IBAC.Has Dan apppointed himself any co-ministries?
Meh. I hang *smile* on everything, regardless. You don’t make fun of a human being who has had a an accident, nearly had permanent spinal damage, spent days in intensive care and 3 months in rehab.
Doesn’t matter who they are, it’s not something you poke fun at.
A lot of people who end up in icu from falls have seemingly innocuous accidents. His case was not that unusual in that sense.
Give me a call and I will take you to a rehab hospital, see how funny you think it is then.

It seems to be a common issue in many (most?) western countries. The one thing the medical colleges don't need is more funding. What needs to happen is that we have stop allowing the fox to control the hen house.
Doctors decide which specialty they want to train in , the college related to that specialty has a big say in how many are trained and where there are trained. Doctors are moving away from general practice as the direction they want to go in because the medicare rates are woefully low whereas if you are a specialist in private practice you name your own price with your specialist college essentially controlling supply so demand for your services is very high. Being a GP is way less lucrative than being a specialist.
That's a very simplistic picture but it is why we wait 3-6 months to see a specialist and then pay an enormous amount for the privilege.
This cartel has to be broken and it includes Governments and Universities.
