Tiger71 reckons he's been told Bradtke will get the nod as our supplementary pick [on Feb 15] due to list structure (forward depth) as well as based on what he's shown training with us: an aggressive forward who can play multiple positions.

Club has been impressed with Narkle as well and has told him he'll be our midseason draft pick if he isn't picked up by another club.

Tiger71 gets a bad wrap on here by many.

Might be against the grain, but I preferred Quint for the middle. How many forwards do we need??

Hearing that Bradtke has been doing well and has lots of potential .We need a Jack replacement and Jack would be the perfect person to help devlop his potential.

Good decision. Not much to Narkle. Ordinary player for mine.

Give the younger kid with the potential to play a kp role a chance.

Like the decision for the same reasons.
Also because it reflects well on the integrity of the match cttee and Shai in that it is clear that Narkles recruitment wasn’t a factor in Shai’s decision to stay.

Never layed eyes on Bradtke but happy with this call as a Rookie for a positional / list need

I hope they gave him more than just the 12 months contract to give the boy a chance

Here are the selections from John Ralph for discussion.

RICHMOND

FB:
R. Tarrant, N. Balta, N. Broad

HB: N. Vlastuin, D. Grimes, D. Rioli

C: J. Short, T. Taranto, K. McIntosh

HF: S. Bolton, J. Riewoldt, M. Rioli

F: D. Martin, T. Lynch, N. Cumberland

Foll: T. Nankervis, D. Prestia, J. Hopper

I/C: L. Baker, B. Miller, M. Pickett, T. Cotchin

Sub: T. Sonsie

Notable absentees: J. Gibcus, J. Ross, J. Graham, H. Ralphsmith, J. Clark, I. Soldo

Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper come into the side as round 1 locks and immediately supply the kind of selection pressure that will require Trent Cotchin to maintain the faith and Tyler Sonsie to continue his development.

Josh Gibcus’ early-season absence with hamstring issues will ease the squeeze for spots across the tall defensive posts, while Jason Castagna will miss round 1 but Judson Clarke, Noah Cumberland and Maurice Rioli will push for the last small forward spots.

Meanwhile Ivan Soldo has had a strong pre-season but finished the season behind Toby Nankervis and Ben Miller so that battle will play out in the next month.

I wouldnt guarantee him more than 12 months- i would expect he would need to show a level of development this year to stay on in 2024- not necessarily playing AFL, or even dominating the VFL, just a level of football and physical improvement now he is in the best possible developmental environment.
