Talking Politics

REALLY ,l wonder if they the ALP will do a big back flip with nuclear power ,oh that's right it's good enough for the Sub's to use it ,and for all our Naval troops to be around it,but it's not good enough for us to use it as a constant power source.
While other countries keep progressing we twiddle our thumbs wondering how they are going to keep the power on.
It's just a matter of time before the Labor/Greens *smile* up,and it's coming FAST

You’re still not getting it, champ. Its not about Labor stuffing anything up. Its about the Liberals fighting relevancy.

Well now that every mainland state and territory are Labour, will they be in lockstep and unity with their federal counterparts?
Hopefully this augurs well for the country going forward.
Time will tell

So, Mr Bengal Tiger.

You suggest we go nuclear, when an optimistic assessment says we would get maybe 50 years of power and need to store the toxic waste for 250,000 years. This, in a country with massive wind and solar resources. Stupid idea really.

You criticise Labor (who are not the Greens, they are separate and in competition with each other) for going around the pacific trying to get a foot hold and keep China out, and at the same time criticise Labor for not opposing China enough.

As for an invasion of Taiwan, there are many issues here. Apart from whether it would be strategic for China to do so (very dubious, but they might still have a go), according to the Australian, US, Taiwanese and Chinese governments Taiwan is part of China, on what grounds would we object? The smart strategy is to prevent China from invading Taiwan which will take a mix of diplomacy and sabre rattling. Mind you, buying subs in the very distant future and tying ourselves to an empire which looks a lot like previous crumbling empires, does not look wise. We would be better off with an independent foreign policy.

Penny Wrong goes running around throwing money at pacific islands ,because of China trying to get foot hold in the pacific
And why did China get a foot-hold?
Do you think it was good policy by the Abbott, Turnbull and Morrison Government to slash foreign aid to our Asian and Pacific Island brothers and sisters, which allowed China to pick up the slack?

I criticized Labor because Penny wrong went to The Pacific islands throwing money around because of China ,and then Labor goes arse kissing China.
Has China showed us respect NO,They are trying to control what we do ,and who we work with.
We are a democratic country, not a communist one.

Rita Panahi used to be on SEN with Harford about 15 years ago and my memory was that her “Rippa Rita” segment was quite popular.

I don’t recall her having hard right views in those days. Did she hide them? Or does she just exaggerate them now to help her career in the Murdoch Media? I would suggest it’s the latter. And I would suggest she is not on her own in that department.
It wasn’t popular. Hosts and callers used to pan her often radical and unconsidered views. In the end, she didn’t last that long and was dumped.

Whether she is a genuine RWNJ cooker or just pandering to the Murdoch mantra, it doesn’t really matter. The outright garbage and hard core bias full of typical RW mistruths and lies, hysteria etc that she spews forth is disgraceful. The stuff she put out during the peak of the pandemic was especially dangerous and irresponsible.

She is just another Murdoch puppet that’s helping conspire conservative politics to the morgue and ensuring that both her and Murdoch are lying on a table next to it.

Or she is just speaking the truth ,and left wingers just don't like it.

Given the disastrous results of the Liberal Conservative parties in this country - the supporters of whom she aligns with and projects to - I’d say it’s not just left wingers that don’t like it.

Talk about killing your own.

Yeah the outsiders can go on a bit .

I tell you what will kill the Labor/Greens ,their climate control policies ,the price rise in power has already affected a lot of people, and businesses .
It's not going to get better.

The rise in Australian power prices is because we exposed ourselves to the international market under liberal leadership and a ban on exploration under a labour government in Vic also a big contributor. Climate policies irrelevant to short term movements IMO. We haven’t had the decades it would need to play out. Monopolies in electrical distribution won’t help either.

So, Bengal Tiger, I presume that you would be fine if we dump some plutonium in your living room?

You do realise that not 1 country has worked out a solution to store nuclear waste for as long as it needs to be stored for. As for all these promises of using nuclear waste in reactors, yeah, that's been promised and not delivered for decades.

All this for 50 years of energy, and that assumes no increase in consumption of uranium, which if we expand nuclear reactors will clearly not be the case. Silly.

Too expensive, no long term solution for the waste, a temporary source of power at best, decades before we would see a power station, yeah, really silly.

If we'd done what we should have 30 years ago we'd have the cheapest, cleanest power on the planet and be making a fortune selling it to everyone else.
