Dustin Martin

Looked fresh and sound. Still not kicking at full power but did hit targets. And looked more comfortable kicking. Better numbers - 27 touches yielding 7SI.

The fifth week back from his hamstring #4 seemed to be trending up.

Love Dusty but I thought he was all over the shop with his disposal. The old grey mare just ain't what it used to be.

Father time is catching up with Dusty, Cotch and Grimesy and to a lesser extent Jackmond.

Don't sweat ...just watch the replays and remember that we won three out of four. :cupgold:cupgold:cupgold

Went ok against the WAFL side. Look like he enjoyed the run, moved much more freely. And the goal, the five iron across the body looked close to the kicking skills we had seen before. Going up in grades this week, one to watch. The higher standard could suit. Expecting him to lift again.

More midfield minutes is a must just like last week. Role him forward to get a mismatch. Our midfield looks way more dynamic with him in there.

He's not an old grey mare. He's a seven-year-old stallion, with three Melbourne Cups, three Cox Plates, an Australian Cup and a bunch of other Group 1s in the trophy cabinet. Bart Hardwick is prepping him for another spring campaign.

Dusty's not too far off I reckon - nearly kicking those goals and adding class to the midfield when he rotates in. I saw some beautifully weighted kicks to players running forward of centre. He's not 2017 Dusty and never will be again but he's still class.

Dusty is the footballer equivalent of the famous thoroughbred Tulloch. Tulloch was one of the five inaugural horse inductees into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, alongside Carbine, Phar Lap, Bernborough and Kingston Town.

Read his Wikipedia entry…. in particular his 2 and 3 year old racing seasons, his 23 month absence due to a mystery stomach virus and then his miraculous recovery. I was just a kid and remember crying with joy when he won his final race…. the 3200m Brisbane Cup. Even his greatest fans had serious doubts he could do it.

The lesson I learned way back then was to never doubt a true champion’s heart. I’ve been a Tigers fanatic for almost 6 decades and imho Dusty is the greatest big game player we’ve ever had. I won’t be the only one crying with joy if he provides us with any more special performances like when he shook off Plonkerfied into the MCG dust to win his 3rd Norm Smith.

Other posters have mentioned it earlier, but Dusty definitely looks more dangerous starting midfield and then drifting forward and his goals tonight are good evidence of this.

Maybe not the Dusty of a couple of years ago but certainly turned the clock back tonight as did Cotch and both used their skills and experience to played a good team game plus a few trademark goals. A pleasure to watch

Led the game for scoring, the team for score involvements, and was equal second with Jack Graham for pressure acts. Might have a future, this bloke.
