Gameday - Tigers V Bombers

I was watching very closely. And i even counted 2 goals in a half, so yes it was pointless. We've seen many teams play that way in the past and it doesn't cut it. Time in possession means jack. Bombers didn't have more scoring shots, it was the same (3 rushed to them, 2 to us) but regardless it wasn't their great game plan, it was our consistent bombing of the ball forward. And yes they had less inside 50s. We were 18 points up with 7 minutes left. Under control. From that point on we totally threw it away. You can have your opinion but I just don't think we would have won by substantially changing our game plan as you suggest, particularly with the cattle on the ground. Our forward line is slow, you can't suddenly increase your forward 50 pressure with the players that were chosen.
You keep going on about 2 goals. They kicked 10. 10 is the number, not 2.

And forget about the past and other teams Essendon may play. We’re talking about tonight. We had no answer for it - and against a rubbish team to boot.

Under control. Ridiculous. Essendon were always in the game. The inside 50’s, time in possession, scoring shots and ultimately, the scoreboard tells you that.

The dud Teague is incharge of the foward line? Or is it the 4 time all Australian McQualter
The fwd line coach is hardly a rocket scientist.
It's amazing that we still do what we do going inside 50.
The plan is not to mark but to paddle fwd to a crumber.

I would rather a ground ball entry than a 50 metre bomb to some dud defender licking his chops as we kick it down his throat.

We transition out of defence so well to continually give it back going inside 50

Got home from the game a while ago but that was almost laughable.
We literally handed that game to our opponent on a plate.
It reminded me so much of the Gold Coast game. We were just terrible when we didn’t have the ball.

Totally agree Poking Spaces. We got out coached. He just had no answer that I could see to what Scott was deploying. Is he unflexible Hooch ?

And it’s not the first time this sort of thing has happened either, be it the “keepings off” and slow us down approach that you’re referring to or the flood/roll back approach that Longmire uses on us all the time. He doesn’t have any counter plan for that either it seems.
He was outcoached by a bloke that has been on holidays for 5 years. Let that sink in

Samson had 5 hitouts cos he took a backseat to nank.

Might have dented his confidence, he might be cooked or he just couldn't get into the game.

But nank was woeful tonight.

I reckon the Samson/Miller combo would have beaten Draper tonight. And miller was stiff
to get dropped.

Both captains incredibly underwhelming. Been a theme this season
Nanks struggled in the second half. And totally expected. I was surprised he was picked. But Samson/Miller combo would not have done better imo. I don't think Samson won a hitout after halftime and Miller wouldn't have had a chance, he's not a ruckman. I'm not potting Samson, he's young and I think he has a great future. He will surely take over Nanks as the first ruck over the next year ot two.

Yes.
I thought the last couple of weeks the Miller Ryan combo was clicking.
We just changed a massive component to a winning formula and we took a step backwards.
Love Nank but he shouldn't be skipper as he should not have played tonight. Even fit.
*Nakas is finished
*Flappers is finished
*Graham is too slow for today's game style
*Grimes shouldn't have been given another yr.
*Pickett is playing like a 3rd tier footballer. He jibbs contests every single week
*Ross is ok if you want to stay 10th. Ok with the footy but a massive side stepper in the contest.
*Prestia hasn't played well since Hopper and Tarranto arrived
*Tarranto at the Giants looked composed and neat, in a RFC jumper he panics and his kicking is atrocious.
Why wouldn't you pick the ball up and then kick it, instead of kicking off the ground 20 out? Very amateur. Got me angry.
*Riewoldt & Cotchin are finished. It's really sad.
*Sampson, dosent have any urgency in his game, very lethargic. We need to wait

It was a great decision to trade for Taranto. Imagine if we had another couple of Matt Clarke spuds instead. Two more Dow's, RCD or Brown's running around.

Flat as a night carter's hat. We are going to have to deal with poor draft choices with Tassie concessions looming. We might have to cut short a few pension plans or we are up to our necks in poo.

This. Can see in Picketts attempt at the marking contests. Never goes up trying to mark but trying to tap it down. Even when he has a clear attempt at it does the same. That is a mindset given by the coaches

Miller won the Reserves Game with the last Goal.
How he did not play is baffling.

Even if we won by less than a goal would'nt be convincing given the gifted goal we got early with Samson.

Back on tonight’s coaching. Apart from the keeping’s off they constantly had free players in the middle which allowed clean entries into forward 50. Our inability to stop that was frustrating.

That mindset seemed to be applied to Nank and Sampson as well who both looked more interested in tapping it than attempting to mark it.

Damn right. Infuriating. All night long.

I thought after quarter time we’d adjust for it and get control, but it just never happened.
