How the smile is Warner included?

Talk about going bsckwards.
Head demonstrated in India he's the man.
Stop picking old favourites and settle the team!!!!

Agree re: Warner, but they will take the team into the Test Championship final that got them there - Fair enough.

Then it will be all bets are off.

BTW Head has nothing to do with Warner. No way he opens in England. Back to middle order.

Looks about the right squad for Leysy. You could have raffled Bancroft, Handscomb, Renshaw and Harris.

Marsh the other lucky one, but we need a backup all-rounder if Green gets injured.

Neser more likely to actually play in the series than Marsh though. Calculated/smart decision to leave him out for the reason.

do you want to win the championship or favour the team as it once was?
Sometimes a hard decision is needed

If the Ashes are "elite" does that mean all the series we played against rubbish English teams are void too?
Maybe the 1978/79 Ashes should be voided when England thrashed our 3rd XI after WSC had taken 28 players ?

Allan Border says the selectors should back Dave Warner in for the first test of the Ashes (and the one off test v India) saying even if Warner scores 4 ducks he should be kept but then goes on to say if he fails then you have to make changes , that’s the law of the jungle.

AB seems to forget that Warner has underperformed at test level since the start of 2022. Apart from his one off 200 at the G his other test scores since 1/1/2022 are: 30, 3, 0, 0, 68, 36, 7, 7, 51, 25, 10*, 5, 24, 5, 48, 21, 28, 0, 3, 10, 1, 10, 15. 407 runs at 18. I reckon Warner has used up all chances. And his record overseas is pretty ordinary. Hasn’t made a ton O/S (other than v Bangladesh) for nearly 9 years.

Dave Warner planning SCG farewell from test cricket next year.
Pretty presumptuous, since I doubt he'll be playing by about the third Ashes test.

Yep these blokes writing their own scrip[ts now rather than letting form decide.

Some blokes get kissed on the *smile* and this bloke is not one of those deserving of so much grace.

Three of Australias greatest modern era batsmen in R T Ponting, J L Langer and M L Hayden all had to fight to obtain and maintain their places for up to 2 -3 seasons before becoming incumbents all being dropped multiple times.

This bloke has hardly ever had to hight for his place and has made a living playing on flat roads in Australian summers.

has been horrible outside of Aus.

Then gets busted instigating cheating and ball tampering and still walks back in to the team.

World Test Championship final starts tonight. Hazlewood out and the unlucky Michael Neser into the squad, although Boland will probably get the nod.

Boland should be suited by the ball/conditions?

Think Australia's superior bowling lineup will be the difference

Looking forward to watching Boland bowl in English conditions. I reckon Green is just about to explode, it wont surprise me if he is rated Australia's best ever allrounder at the end of the Ashes. A shame Nesser misses out, I'd have him in ahead of Starc.

Aust have been sent in.

I shasre similar high hopes for Green but he could make 700 runs and take 30 wickets and he'd still have work to do to overtake Keith Miller.
