Exactly, It has become a throw away word for things people don't like. It's original or literal meaning is being socially aware in terms of racial and social justice and I am not sure how that in itself can ever be a bad thing.

Jordan Thompson who said that people coming in to sit between games rather than wait for change of ends was woke clearly has taken up the throw away nature of the word. Of course that has nothing to do with being woke, it is about people who paid good money to see tennis being able to watch it.

Woke is now political. Potato Head is throwing the word around like confetti, everything's woke.

I woke up today feeling tired. I think I used the word correctly there

Yep, when a term becomes a challenge they cheapen it. It is the right wing way.

Maybe a Woke can explain this to me . We now have an Opening round instead of a Round 1. To me the Opening Round is Round one & Round one is Round 2. Why is this so ?.

Which replaced a thread that referenced avocado consumption in a disparaging way so as to infer a disconnect between those who prefer socially progressive politics and their brunch largesse.

Maybe later they will have Opening Round of the Finals Series where Top side plays bottom side, second side plays second bottom etc etc etc. Knock out loser eliminated until only two sides left in undefeated . Then they willl play for the Australian Football Super Dish . Each game will have eight quarters 15 minutes each thus generating more moolah from advertising. The Super Dish Final will be played at the 200000 seating stadium in Canberra the Jim Chalmers Stadium thus all pollies will not have to travel on the public purse.

The thing that grinds my gears is that the way some think these days anyone who is socially progressive, believes in social justice and fairness and abhors racial injustice should be labelled “woke” as if it is a bad thing to think that way.

But that is pretty much the definition is "woke".
It is just those who want to maintain the status quo of power and wealth imbalances (or those not smart enough to understand them) that try to belittle those trying to change the system.

Sounds like the finals systems back around the turn of the (previous) century.

I thought this thing you label woke was meant to be a recent phenomenon not something we used to do back in the 19th century.

To be honest, I’ve never looked up the actual meaning.
I usually use it the way it’s been accepted.
I guess a term changes meaning over time if it’s used in a certain way by the (ignorant) majority.

I don’t mind using it as a denigrating term even if it’s contextually incorrect. I’m sure one day the Oxford Dictionary will catch up
