Maurice Rioli Jnr

He was very good today.

Showed up a lot of his more highly rated team mates.

Did his thing well, but also used the ball well and got through traffic in ways that he wouldn't have a year ago.

I would love to see him line up at the centre bounce. He wouldn't let Rowell get thirty clearances.

It was his intent that gave us a sniff at all.

His stats line doesn't look great, but his influence on the game in particular the 3rd quarter was way more effective than his stats show and I think thats the think we will see with Maurice especially until we get him to 50 odd games.

Yep.

Imagine the impact he would have on the game if he were able to find 20 plus disposals. He's never looked like doing that, and it's the biggest knock on him.

Put him on the ball.

What do we have to lose? We could stuff around with a known quantity like Hopper, or try to make something.

His miss in front of goal was deflating
Leave it at that

I’ll agree it was better, especially his pressure acts when so many others were lamentable. Just needs to gather more ball and hit the scoreboard.

I actually think the scoreboard is his greatest enemy.

He's not a natural goal kicker, nor a technically competent set shot.

Which makes it difficult for him, because he has other attributes useful for being a small forward.

He really has to make it as a mid.

I agree with giving him a go in the middle in bursts. Set shots - he should be able to improve that with practice.

Showed some much needed composure with his use. That had to happen and it did

Good to see. This is what Ooze and co. have to assess and build on.

I was trying to work out what looked different, you've hit the nail on the head there that it's composure, he looked so much less panicked with the ball (even in high pressure situations) than he has in years. If not for him I don't think we get the spark to turn things around in the second half

I’m a fan but wish they’d stop kicking it on top of his head… aerial contests aren’t his strength… put it on the deck and give him a chance

Gets to play at the G next week.

I actually thought his first half was quite serviceable. I might watch the 3rd qtr at some point but that team effort in the first half by the tigers was deplorable.

Agree….our kicking generally today though was awful ….but even when we’re playing ok we don’t seem to rate kicking it to our team mates advantage…

He was the spark a few times , sincerely hope he can build on this , broke tackles used that speed and run down tackles sensational
