Game Day - Tigers V Blues

Yeah dunno what to think. Gutsy effort under duress against a supposed top 4 side. But can't help to think that we blew it yet again. Deadset we are the kings of losing close games. We have made it an artform since the 2020 flag. Bolton shocking misses, Mansell shocking miss; it's unacceptable to miss so many easy goals that ultimately cost the game. So frustrating. Been happening for 3 plus seasons now.

Midfield was so much better. They obviously didn't try against the Suns for some reason. Scumton have the best contested ball midfield in the AFL and we smashed them. Vlastuin was a beast. Balta fantastic but a couple of typical brain farts really hurt us. We took it right up to them but ultimately is disappointing to fall short again.

Oh the umpires *smile* us again. Normal transmission resumes. DeKoning gets a *smile* 50m penalty which is more like 60m and allows him to goal:mad:

And tonight just reinforced how much I *smile* hate Carlton. What a bunch of *smile*!!!

How can we assemble a defence now?
Gotta deal with the cards you are dealt. 12 months ago no Gibcus and a fresh Young playing.
Miller will come in. Yze either moves Balta back or asks Grimes or Broad to cover. Or brings Kozi in as a defender.

Our 2 key defenders for the first 2 games had played 40 games between them. Despite both being off injured for over half the game McKay and Curnow kicked 5 between them

They shouldn't be cockie but we blew a perfect opportunity to pop there blue bubble.
It's a pity they didn't stick to the plan and not play Prestia but they shat themselves from last week, they made him turn up again 5 days later. You don't have to be Einstein to know Prestia can't play 2 games under a week.
Carlton shouldn’t be too cocky after tonite. Very lucky win there

Balta needs to stay fwd
Just embrace the swingman I say. He's a gun wherever he plays. In a perfect world, Lynch, Balta, Dusty, Shai fwd line is scary, but its not a perfect world, even less now with Gibcus ACL.

Besides the fact we are chronically slow on the ball, we are, without doubt, the worst kicking side in the AFL.

We miss everything. 20m sideways kicks under zero pressure , guys on their own out on the wing, straight up leads, and of course the obligatory and often farcical set shot misses - Shai Bolton our perennial and leading offender.

We had a real go tonight. Really good at stoppages. We could have won that game if it weren’t for the insane kicking skills - particularly in the last quarter. De Koning and one or two others had a field day off us in the last quarter.

Mansell contest for that goal. Brilliant effort. @spook your Balta bets cancel Ryan!! GENUIS.
I have moments of genius. Many times I've had several consecutive performance-enhanced hours of genius. I think I even had a full day or two of genius once or twice. (Then I had to sleep for 14 hours.)

I'm not quite a genius, but I can see it from where I live. I have the day off tomorrow, might visit. 🍄

Sorry to
Why was there a score review then? How can you review a hypothetical score that hypothetically happened after a HTB?

If they were checking to see if the ball touched his boot to see if it was HTB, then weren’t they technically reviewing an umpiring decision?

The hypothetical goal happened after the umpire was obliged to make the decision on his own, so therefore it’s moot. The umpire has to decide if it hit his boot so he can make his HTB decision.
Sorry to quote myself, but it gets madder the more I think about it.

If a player gets caught with the ball on the wing and attempts to get boot to ball, the umpire has to decide if it’s hit the boot so he can make his HTB/play on decision. If it’s play on, what happens after is relevant. If it’s HTB, it’s not.

Is there a different rule in the goal square? Or did the umpire come up with some kind of on-the-spot ‘commonsense’ hack to check his own decision.

He appears to have opened a post free kick alternate universe to retrospectively check his own work in order to affect its own theoretical future. Does this portal only appear in the goal square?

It’s surely against the prime directive and it cost us 30-odd metres of territory.

And bigger and stronger. Don't want to see the respective broken tackle counts. They laid 16 more than us. Do they count broken tackles as tackles?
OMG. The broken tackles as well. Unreal.

Kicking
Speed
Tackling

So obvious. At least we won the stoppages and clearances. And contested possessions.

We can't do anything about Prestia, but the kid Gibcus might just might not have a body that allows him to play AFL.
This will be a huge 12-18 months.
I wouldn't rush him and fingers crossed he isn't given a return date and he can focus on just getting his body AFL ready.

....

*smile* Balta was like Anthony Koutifedes tonight

Is someone else finally seeing it? I've been a broken record about that for years. That's the player I've always thought of when I watch him. With one most excellent exception. Balta likes the body contact. Kouta was strong and could handle the contact, Balta loves it!

News report say Apparently we only stayed in the game at half time because of two average free kicks to Lynch 4 a couple of goals..... FFS Really??? Wankers simply can't help thems3lves.. Just Richmond bashing.

The half-time highlights on the tellybox were hilarious. It was all Carlton. They did a special bit on how well Hopper was going on Cripps, the entire reel was of Cripps.

It was a really brave effort tonight with only two on the bench for the second half.

We won't be a contender again though until we can transition better defensively. Our midfield is so slow 🐌.

There probably won't be many wins this year but you can live with that if we have a go like tonight.
